Something just doesn't seem right . I have had several on bikes and they were always adjustable up higher by the steering column. Will your plastic not cover the unit? Why would you even require one on a Kat with the longer wheel base and the forgiveness of steering I don't think it is even necessary.

I don't see anything wrong with the placement.

I gonna try and get one... Just for looks

Why didn't I think of borrowing from my screen door. Wouldn't have sit in front of this monitor for 3 mon. I had to have one for the track I run on. Organized by the ECTA the track is a mile long, used for top speed trials. You would b amazed at the difference of having one on at high speed compared to running w/out one. Tried both, there is a difference. No you can't mount the fairing w/out modifying it first. I'm gonna get a left side panel off of ebay so I don't mess up my custom paint. I actually had to run the bike naked (the bike not me). I know my bike will do better than this. I had a leaking carb & 2 fouled plugs but still managed to hit 133.92857 mph w/ a time of 0.67200 this was my best run for the day. You can go to the website at [url]http://www.ecta-lsr.com Should have pics of that day June 24, 2006. If you see a naked Katana and someone in white leathers, that would be me. My number is 9381 (on gas tank). I will also post more pics when I get fairing complete.

Oh forgot to mention, I suggest not to weld a bracket to the frame. I used an existing hole. All I had to do was make hole a little bigger and didn't even have to make a bracket for it. I used the supplied parts that came w/ the stabilizer. If you look at the pic you can figure out where that hole is.

If you check out this thread, it has the whole deal on them. The cowl is discussed about half way down, but nice pics up top too

BTW: You don't have your location on your profile, but are you in NC? If so, where bouts? I spent about 10 years there.

Sorry if it seemed like we were hating, Micki
it's just that you get so many squids these days..

You posted you trap speed and reaction time but why no ET??
Just out of curiosity what other mods did you need to make
to run the kat? Is it still streetable?

The track is an old runway, I think it was abandoned in 1960's. It is about 1.9 miles total. It's a solo run. There was no reaction time, not drag racing so no tree was used. As far as getting it to pass tech inspection I had to safety wire oil filter, oil drain plug, oil filler cap, brake master cylinders f&r. Tether kill switch, steering stabilizer, tape headlight, remove mirrors & signals, metal valve stems, metal chain guard. I recently replaced oem ignition coils/wires w/ Accel coils and 8.8 mm wires. Not a requirement though. Yes it is street legal. Here are 3 of my time slips for ya.
