uhh..katanas are no legend...if you buy one you're either a squid..or a 40 year old man needing something more exciting than the miata you just bought.

wtf u talking about if i remember correctly the Katana 1100 was the godfather of sportbikes! and the old original katanas were the gsx-r's of their time! And plus i know several real good riders that even race Kats!

A Katana is a piece of shit can of tuna!!!! I 'm glad they are getting rid of the piece, you must still be learning to ride and dont want to fuck up a good bike!!! But then again i havent been riding long and i wont be seen on a piece like the can of tuna, lol!!!!

Like I said obviously you guys do not have a very good history on sportbikes...it may be a Kan-a-Tuna but I love the bike i got! And it will be a long time before i change!

The Katana is legend for its longstanding history with Suzuki, for the creation of the Katana 1100 which is considered the GODFATHER of Sportbikes!! For the original katana 600s and 750s which were the GSX-Rs of the day.

THATS WHY THE KATANA IS CONSIDERED A LEGEND!!
    ------

Ok thats the conversation so far!

All i want to know is why you love the katana!

Me i love the katana cause its not too fast but its not even close to being slow! I love the feel of it, and i think it looks great! Also I never have a problem with keeping up with my dads Hayabusa, his friends CBR600RR, and ZX-7R!!

I would like to note the irony that the sarah girl is "new" to riding, and owns a 2004 yellow/black GSX-R750!!! lol

Any A$$jack who thinks you are a squid becuase you ride a Kat should go back and see if he left his brain at the last college frat party

All you have to do is scroll the forums here on KR and you can see why we all love the Kat. Its versatile, affordable, fun to ride, easy to maintain, easy on insurance, comfortable, easy to mod, and looks good. What more do you want

Posts like those listed above are reasons that affirm to me that the general riding population needs to have its head examined !

The reason it's a legend is here:

I know; I wrote most of the original entry, although with WikiPedia, others have updated/added-on/etc..

I love the Kat, I had the money to buy a new gixxer and was going to get one. I sat on both at the dealer and the gixxer was not comfertable then I sat on the Kat. It felt good and looked sweet so thats why I got it. The bike has not disapointed me at all, it kicks a$$ and I love it best, dicision I have made so-far.

I agree with you on that one! I sit on my brothers new Gixxer 600 and let me tell you, the seat is uncomfortable and so is how much your lean is! It also hurts my rists on long rides....of course that wasnt the Gixxer i was on, i was on a CBR600RR so i guess thats a lil different! lol

note to self... hate to say it...but these people will be the ones getting there brains or what brains they may have washed off the intersate somewhere after they wreck doing 180 with no helmet. Yea and a real squid rides Katanas because we all know how light weight and flickable the katanas are unlike the GSX-R and CBR which takes a pro rider to take twisties on. I guarentee anyone of these dumb arses tries to ride a Katana and would probably be wrecking it within the first 45 minutes. But thats just my squidly opinion what do I know?

personally, I only know the GODFATHER (as one guy put it) versions of the kat. and yessss......I love it. I own an 82, a 92 and a 93...all 1100's.

as for the models most of you folks are riding, I can't have an opinion on them because I never owned one. They look ok, but that is all I can say about them. you all seem to swear by them, so that is ok enough for me to think they must be a good bike. I haven't even rode on one.
I don't have a short temper. I just have a quick reaction to bullshit.

I am pretty sure the squid ratio on GSX-Rs is exponentially higher than Kats.

Well yesterday I let a buddy of mine who does stunts ride my Kat because he said he's never ridden one and always wanted to just to see how it is, he says the bike is very comfortable and you wouldn't ever know just by looking at it.

So I asked him to ride his GSXR 750, and let me just say I am tempted to take my bike to the dealer and use it as a trade-in or sell it out right. The GSXR 750 is 2000 times better than the Katana. Granted its not as comfortable as riding the Katana couch but man everything about the GSXR is better.

Including the insurance rates and sticker shock. I still cannot understand why people continue to compare a Katana to a GSX-R. They aren't intended to be in the same class. It's like comparing a Volkswagon Karman Ghia to a Porsche 911. They aren't intended to compete with one another. They only share old technology.

The Katana is more a poor man's (and small) FJR or ZZR1200 than it is a poor man's GIXXER. SHEESH!

Sorry but now im a lil agravated! Heres what the shane guy posted!

All you have to do is scroll the forums here on KR and you can see why we all love the Kat. Its versatile (maybe..its still ugly), affordable (back to the ugly comment), fun to ride (if you've never ridden anything else), easy to maintain (had a bike shop..maintain a gixxer600 and tell me the katana is still easy), easy on insurance (Supermotos are easy on insurance..not a katana), comfortable (uhh as comfortable as any other bike), easy to mod (what...pipes are easy to put on anything..I dont see any stretched/slammed katanas), and looks good (see first comment). What more do you want Rolling Eyes (uhh..how about something nice that doesnt scream midlife crisis?

yes i did use your comment wildkat, and still he just doesnt get it! But i got some good news someone just may have told him off even better than what i could have!

anyone who dislikes the katana is not a suzuki fan its like hating the gsx , like the GSX-R line of motorcycles, its called the GSX-F in other countries

YES!! SCORE FOR THE KAT! hes even a gixxer rider!

I would not normally reply to a post like this but I need to know....why do you care what other people think so much? I can have any bike I want but I chose the Katana because of the many reasons people in here already mentioned. I ride with cruisers, sport bikes, sport touring even dual purpose bikes. I could give a flying rat's behind what anyone of those people think of my choice in bikes. The bike serves "ME" well for my style of riding. It cruises great for longer rides! It plays well with other bikes in the twisties! It has a bullet proof engine! It can carry a passenger with comfort! Huge fuel tank for extended rides! One of the best looking bikes in "MY" eyes! The list goes on and on. But this is "MY" list. I am sure if I ask my friends that ride a Super Moto bike they would think their ride is the best for totally different reasons. This just reminds me of a grade school pissing contest. If you need to compare "R" bikes with sport touring then you are not ready for a bike in my opinion. Don't respond to the "kid" that is getting your goat going.

I traded my '02 750 Kat for an '06 750 Gixxer about a month ago.
First of all, not one single piece of the '06 was carried over from the pre.s.
The seat is closer to the bars. The seat height is a bit lower. The suspension is infinately adjustable for Racing, pleasure riding and two up riding. The rear seat pad is much larger than the pre.s and thicker too.
Having ridden the pre.06.s, you cannot compare the comfort between them. The '06 is just awesome.

                              I'm 43 years old 6'2", 185lbs.
I can ride the Gixxer for about an hour at a time without a break. I suffer from virtually no fatique at the end of a days riding. I'm getting about the same miles per gallon, unless I'm mis behaving. All the same characteristics I enjoyed while owning my Kat.

So why did I buy a Gixxer?

                              'Cause I could!
                              and...

                              ...it's faster. So what
                              ...it's looks cooler, Maybe
                              ...it's faster.
...it handles like an F22 Strike fighter. Yes, yes it does
                              ...it's faster.
...Insurance is the same as the Kat. Really
Over forty, married, clean record= $$

                              Bottom line...
                              I'm just showin' off...
..and next year it'll be just another sport bike, 'cept I'll have the payments.

                              But, I'm lovin' every minute!
