  • Got some air off of some railroad tracks... my gauges don't

Ok.. so I was out today riding around and I came across a nice twisty road. I was moving along nice and getting my confidence up, when I came across a railroad crossing. The crossing was raised up like a ramp (think fast and the furious final scene). So I am thinking to myself, ohhh man this is gonna be awsome, so I hit it going probably about 60 maby a little more ( I accelerated hard on right before I hit it to make sure the front end got up more than the back) , and got some air. I'm not gonna say how hight I got cause I don't know but it felt awsome and sounded cool too. So I am riding down the road and I notice my tack isnt working. I pull over to check it out and realize that my turn signal didnt light up nor did it show it lit on the cluster. At this point I realize everything is out, gauge lights, tailight, liscense plate light, all cluster lights, and turn signals. The only thing still on was my headlight, and the Speedo still works.

Now my question is, do any of you know what I must have knocked loose, and how to fix it? I am thinking it must be a wire that gives power to all the gauges and everything, or maby a fuse. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

And yeah I know, kats aren't built for jumps. I learned my lesson riding home about 30 miles using hand signals the whole way

Well Evil 8) , If not everything is out, you probably just blew a fuse. Lift the seat and check your fuse box, just behind the tank.

      Yeah, check the fuses.

At least you know the hand signals (I'm assuming). Most people don't!

Definately a good thing you knew the hand signals. Fortunately it was daytime so you didnt have any problems as far as vision in front you and all.

could be the fuse, check your wiring too from the gauges.

The fuse panel for your bike should be on the right (throttle) side under the rear side fairing (on the tail frame). Right about under your butt. That would definately be the first thing I checked. Hope it is something that simple for you.

Railroad crossings are FUN . Also , some small bridges far from town , and those fun hills you can't see the other side of .

My tack stopped working completely, do you think this is due to power? Or could it be broken all together?

hmm, check all of your connections and fuses throughout before replacing anything

Ok so all it was was a blown fuse. I got a new one and everything works perfectly fine now. Well, except for the tail light. The tail light doesnt stay on unless I use the brake, which is weird cause it is the same bulb for the brake light and the tail light. Anyone know why the tailight isnt on?

The bulb is bad. Change it. The taillight uses a dual filament bulb. One filament is lit for the taillight and the other filament lights up when you apply the brakes. One of the filaments is broken from your jumping escapade.
