Have you checked eBay? I bought a Yuasa battery for the Kat there a while back.

Never shopped for a charger since I run the bike all year. Once my battery died I just bought a new one.

My son has a 6V Yuasa battery in his golf cart. I bought a charger from www.gotbatteries.com just recently for $15 shipped. Perhaps they will have a charger to suit your needs. I ordered it and I got it about 3 days later so I would recommend them, provided they have what you need.

    Good luck.

I understand the desire for the optimate. Great charger.

No clue where to find the cheapest one. Just start at google and search, comparing prices.

Personally, I use a Battery Tender (Deltran) Waterproof 800 because it is exactly what it claims to be -- drop it in a bucket of water and leave it overnight, and in the morning the battery will be fully charged and the unit will still be working flawlessly (a big issue for Florida weather and condensing humidity).

              Cheers,

i dont want to skimp on something thats hooked to a battery dealing with alot of juice left in my garage with alot of sutff to catch fire(including the house). so spending a few extra bucks on something thats Not walmart quality isnt a big deal for me. also the optimate does diagnostic stuff to.

if it rained in AZ id consider the waterproof 800

well the ones I got from wal-mart are not like the one Fred posted. It is quite heavy-duty looking compared to that one. I left 2 of them on all winter, one for my minn kota electric motor and one for the bike....and there was never an issue. and we are talking cold (-30) and damp winters here in Quebec. I had one a few years ago that was like $60-70, and it didn't last a year before it burnt out......so don't always think cuz it cost more that it is better. I bought the expensive one online. when it burnt out, I had to send it back to the compnay...and that was it...never saw or heard from them again. I can't rememer the name of it.
so that s why I went with wal-mart......cheaper...just as good...and if it fk's up, just take it back and get a new one. no questions asked.
I am not trying to convince you that you should go get it at wal-mart.....but just letting you know that from experience, they work just fine and are a better value than the expensives ones. I am not a cheap bastard....I usually prefer quality that will last. The wal-mart ones please me.

I got my battery tender from a motorcycle show a couple years back, for 30.00; but he also threw in a few other odds n ends to make it worth the deal.

Walmart is a good place. I picked up my last battery at AutoZone.

Note that the only thing the OptiMate tends to do that the Deltran BatteryTenders don't is the desulfation cycle, which is normally only an issue for standard (add-water type, non-maint free) batteries. Since your bike probably has a maint free battery, there is no benefit over the Waterproof 800 I can see unless you can get it at the same price or cheaper.

                        PS - it's available here for $60:

Probably because they order from the distributor to fulfill your order, and don't stock it on-hand. That means they have only the overhead of advertising, rather than stocking stuff (and warehousing it, etc).
