  • Katana Lowside *Crash* Photo Series

Ever wonder what your bike will look like when riding into the ground?

Here's a photo series of a guy lowsiding his Kat from an NC photographer that takes pics on Hickory Nut Gap. Shorts and no gloves....OUCH!!

Man, he hung on to that bike for a long time. At least shoulda let go, but it seemed that he was trying the old "hang onto the front brake to prevent the lowside" trick. Uhhh, I don't think that works...

Hope he's OK. At least he was wearing a hemlet. I'd be interested to see after pics of the bike to see how it held up - oh yeah, and his skin...

      Last two:

Photographer said he had a serious case of rash but other than that he and bike were fine, save his pride.

Looked to me like he was "motocrossing" his turn -- leaning to the outside of the turn and pushing the bike down. Once you start doing this at higher speeds, you are destined for a lowside. Lean with your bike if you aren't dragging knees.

I particularly like the way he uses his leg to cushion the bike from damage.

See how the rear wheel is completely elevated.
The entire weight of the bike is on his leg.

Someone posted these before. This time with a few more shots.

          Ouch!

ouchie... i agree that he had his body positioned way wrong for that turn.

Yea...sliding on your palm with no glove hurts pretty bad. See below. I can't imagine skinning your knee is much better. The skin is so thin and his leg trapped under there for as long as it was probably filed it all the way to the bone.

Pic of my Hand linked out of courtesy for the squeamish.

I don't know Looney, your name alone makes me think that might not be from a motorcycle accident. You're not going blind too, are you
