I don't know if I'd want to be seen riding around with such a large "rebel" flag on my bike. While most people will get the movie reference there may be a few that don't and view the paint job in a very negative light.

      edit

it doesn't look bad in Matts pics, is the flag on the gas tank only? or not at all?

        Hrm....

I'd paint my bike pink if those two women came with the deal.

If you want to paint it like the General Lee, go for it. I would make sure you're dead serious about it because you'll be living with it for a while. Are you a seriously dedicated fan of "The Dukes of Hazzard" show? I wouldn't bother painting your bike in that scheme if you aren't. One benefit of painting your bike that was is that you would definitely be noticed. As far as the rebel flag is concerned. I say don't be concerned with how others would view it. The bike is yours after all. Anymore the rebel flag is a sign of being a southerner or a rebel and has little meaning in relation to the civil war or or racial oppression in current culture. That's my two cents on the subject.

I agree; I don't think anything is wrong with the rebel flag.

Like woobie mentioned, most people (myself included) would look at it and see the Dukes reference..but the rebel flag does carry alot of bad memories for alot of people still today. Not nearly as much as it used to though, but for some its a reminder of an era that wasnt the "friendlist" time in history, to say the least.

( At the risk of starting something....) So is the swastica . It WAS an ancient good luck symbol before the Nazis took it , put it on it's side , and plastered it everywhere . But all people will see is a Nazi , so that's not a good symbol to be displaying nowadays . Hell , down HERE , there's nothing wrong with the rebel flag . But there's also nothing wrong with the KKK down here , neither .....

I dunno, personally I wouldn't care. However, many folks are offended by the Confederate Flag. I wouldn't put it on my bike simply because I really don't want to get in a confrontation with someone over a misunderstanding about what my bike represents (i.e., the Confederacy). Also wouldn't want someone seeing the bike in a parking lot and kicking it over because of the flag being on it. Lastly, I'm not a big Dukes of Hazzard fan, despite the rave reviews the movie version got
