  • Where did you buy your Kat?

I am pretty sure that my bike is going on the block this week. I was thinking about listing it here, but trying to sell a Kat to a bunch of Kat owners seems foolish.

Did anyone here actually buy their Kat through Kat riders?

For me I think that I am going to start with Craiglist see how that works.

I bought mine here on KR... I specifically came to this site to find one. So i cant really agree with you entirely when you say it is foolish to try and sell a Kat to other Kat owners.... If I had not been lurking on this board for nearly a year, i never would have found my new baby!!

List it here for sure as well as some other places as well.
        I love my Kat!!

Well we do get new members from time to time that are looking to buy a Kat, But I wouldn't make KR my main place to sell one.

I got mine from Craiglist. Not too many Kats showing up in NC though, so had to drive up to Wash DC to get it. Totally worth it in the end.

I get all my vehicles by scanning the obituaries and then calling the family to see if they want to unload any vehicles the dead leave behind. it's the best place in the world for great deals.
the problem with buying bikes that way though....is usually the person died on the bike so it needs some work.

                    na...just kidding about that.
but I do know someone that does that....uses obituaries for purchasing stuff. I find it creepy myself, and would feel like scum contacting the family....but he's fine with it.

For a second there you had me Mojoe. I was thinking there is no way he actually does that.

I know what you mean. I did not want to go to a foreclosure sale because I felt like I was preying on others bad luck.

There's no harm in listing it here, but I would post it on other local boards too.

The local buy and sell maybe? autotrader/biketrader paper to name a few.

I know we had a Ontario KR member sell his on ebay last month.

                        EDIT
I bought mine new at a dealer.

                          lol....good. I was hoping I sounded convincing...lol.

Nope...I could never do that. I might not be the "ideal" member of society, but I do have my limits. But shit....many times I wish I could. I have been offered and gotten great deals on a couple of occassions because of the death of someone, but I NEVER went looking for it. But man...wish I could.

I had a friend that furnished his first house like that. He got on the registry at the local nursing home. within about 3 months he had a fully furnished house. He stayed on there too, and just kept trading up as better stuff started showing up. All of it was pretty cheap too. but most of it was free.

He even got a big screen tv for a few hundred bucks. Woulda been cheaper but he got into a bidding war with one of the other tenents.

please explain. although it goes completely against my morals to approach family members in order to try to buy some dead person's stuff, I might be ok with signing up on a registry for that purpose. If it means I would get a call or a notice of stuff going up for sale, and just have to submit a bid....well I could go for that.
But if it is just a letter saying, "hey....ol' lady jones just bit the big one, here is the address"....well, that's not for me.
