  • Bike back from dyno tomorrow!

I should be getting the bike back from the local dyno shop tomorrow on my lunch break, which kind of sucks since i won't be able to ride it for 4 more hours. But atleast i am getting it back. here is a little bit of background to my bike.

I bought the bike in early september 2005. It is a '92 750. Never ran right. I upgraded the rubber products on the bike, changed fluids etc. just maintenance. Had 27,000 miles on it. Never ran right, so i was getting a new filter: bought the k&n pods then found out needed jet kit, well messed with that for sometime and then well finally now decided to disban the k&n filter venture and go back to stock airbox. I cleaned the carbs replaced orings and such.

Bike is what i thought ran alright, but when it was hot it just wouldn't take off the line. After months of trying to fix it in between work and being a student, i gave up. I figured the bike is useless if it doesn't run right.

I called around using the dyno centers off dynojet's website. Closest place was 50 miles away at a harley dealer. THey told me that they wouldn't even come outside to look at the bike in the parking lot. ANother place was 60 miles, but never could get ahold of them. So i contacted a place in columbus ohio about 150 miles away and scheduled an appointment to go up there for them to dyno tune it in two weeks. So i tried to bear it and not ride it. But one day i was telling my boss, which rides a buell, not sure on the model, says why haven't you taken it to this place. Which is ten miles away. I was like i told you how long ago i was having problems and looking for a dyno and you just now mention this to me. so i thank him, and i call the place that night and they will take it and get me going.

So relieved I FINALLY found a place to fix my bike. I drop it off wednesday and now friday. I was getting worried, i called in and said frankly i can't afford a $1000 plus bill to get my bike fixed. The dude was like oh yeah i have about 2 hours on it and it is running fine just the idle is screwy and i want to check things out. He said i would be looking at about 4 hours of labor. So at 40 bucks an hour for dyno tuning i am sitting pretty dang happy.

I went in to talk with him today because he said i was missing 2 syncro port orings, so i was bringing them to him, but i lost them. But he is thinking i am running on 3 cylinders and then above 7 grand it clears up, so we found a bad wire and we fixed it. The dude has a '97 bandit 1200 and a new honda 954. He said he loves the bandit more than the 954.

He also said it appeared that the bike has had a rough life and that someone was finally showing some love to it. So work is slow and i keep kicking my self for not doing better research. And some advice i would give to all...........Go to a DYNO if you are having problems and have no clue like me what is going on. Much simplier.

But one question for you fellow katriders...what would make that one cylinder cut out? I was thinking coil or wires, but what about signal generator or anything like that? But i was thinking if it was the signal generator wouldn't it effect all the cylinders?

Thanks guys for all the help you guys have given me it has been much appreciated, and i will post up my settings for the carbs to help those. I hope he can print me out of reading of the fuel curve and hp reading, but i didn't see a printer.

I was so far off he said i was so rich that the a/f meter wouldnt' read it. HAHAHH, but all is around 13.5 to 14 now

all the money to do what? dyno tune it? it will set me back less than a set of tires possibly less than a single tire. and a nice little bonus from work makes it possible. But what is the point of a bike that gets roughly 75 miles a tank and burns plugs after 5 tanks if they last that long? got to spend money to save money.

Hey , some of us have a little extra money , more so than time . Hell , if I had the extra money , and wasn't so good at makin' jet changes fast , I'd probably break down and do the same thing . I can NEVER seem to get it just right .
