  • Betcha not many has ever had this happen!

Ok. Been a while since I have posted anything, but not much going on. I ride every day that is not raining to work, which is 52 miles 1 way one the interstate (77). But today something happened worth logging on for. I was in a neighboring town to mine and had been talking a friend of mine in his yard where him, his girlfriend, her friend and two of my friends kids were.. One is 7, and the other is 5. Before I left the oldest kept telling me he wanted to see me wheelie. I kept saying no, that since I was in town that is a big no-no. Well, when I left I done a short bunnie hop only to have to turn around because the new cordless phone I had strapped to the back fell off. After securly fastening it down, I was now facing back towards my friends house where everyone was watching. And squid me stood it up, around the 10:00, or 10:30 mark. I rode it for about 125 ft. or so and let it down right in front of my friends house where I noticed he was pointing directly behind me. Before I had a chance to turn around and look I heard the blare of sirens. I imediatly pulled over, removed my helmet, and got off the bike. The sheriff deputy walked up to me and said "I need all your paper work". Hmm. I said "All I have on me is my liscence" and handed them to him. After a quick glance he asked me "Was you showing off for those kids back there?" I was honest and told him yes I was. His exact words were as followed, "Well, not to many people are that honest, don't be doing that shit here in town. Take it to the highway, or a back road, OK?" I said yes sir. "Well, get the hell outta here while a big grin streched from ear to ear on the officer. I told him thanks. I went back to my buddies house where I smoked about 4 Marlboro's to calm the ol' nerves and went home minding my own buisness! No warning, no tickets, nothing. That does not happen very often!

Before the flaming begins, I was in full gear, gloves, helmet, and was up a side street out of the actual town area with nobody around, or at least nobody in FRONT of me!

Seriously, very very lucky. Guess the cop had gotten laid good the night before.

Surprising how being honest with a cop and admitting you were just messing around can sometimes help your cause. Not always though, but they know when you're trying to BS them so there's not much to it anyways.

You definately got lucky since he had you dead to rights being right behind you...

Yeah, in all my years of driving and trouble I had only recieved a warning once, and that was in my car doing 62 in a 55. I recieved a ticket once for 60 in a 55! My driving record is, for the fisrt time since I have been driving (13 years) it is spotless!

          3 Wreckless Ops,
          14 Speeding violations
          2 Stop signs
          1 Wreckless Endangerment
          1 Failure to maintain control
          1 Warning

Damn, it is nice to grow up a little. Still get the urge every once in a while. Most of it was due to what I was driving, kinda like the urge just because your on a bike and can!

          1955 Ford Pickup 428 CJ w/4-speed
          1996 Toyota Supra Turb 3.0 w/six speed
1981 Chevy 1/2 Ton w/Turbo Fire 350, Powerglide tranny, rated at 615 HP w/671 blower

I wouldn't be so paranoid... if everyone wasn't out to get me.

Kinda what I was wondering. Yeah, there was no running or even thinking about it, not saying I would or anything :blueangel But his sirens were so close that they rang my ear drums with my helmet on, I knew he was starring at my plates just incase I decided I did not feel like getting a ticket! I will be the first to admit that is was a dumb decision doing that in town limits, even though it was a deputy sheriff that pulled me over. Maybe a fellow rider!

Very cool. It is nice to see honesty rewarded. What state are you in?
A Maricopa County Sherrif (Arizona) would have given you a ticket and a treated you like you just escaped from the pen.

I am also a sucker for kids.

Let me see, in Huron Ohio I got ticketed (and upheld in court) for accelerating too fast.
In New London Ohio I got ticketed for riding after dusk on a motorcycle permit.
A couple days later New London gave me a ticket for window tint. My ticket #'s from their police were only like 10#'s apart!

                              I one time got a ticket for 71 in a 65.

The only warning I've ever gotten was right after a string of tickets..... the cop must have run my record, because he came back and said "It doesn't look like you get too many warnings!" So that's exactly what he did. I was, however, in a big white cadillac, and he pulled me for 62 in a 55.
