  • Front Fork Stand

    Hi All,

My '04 750 Katana has uneven front forks, which prevents me from using the stands I currently have. Does anyone know if there are front stands suited for our Kats?

I have the Handy 99$ ones that work but since the forks are a uneven length it's apllied a bit crooked. Also have the steering stem type which I like the best.

I use the one for the bottom clamp as well.....can't work on the forks without it...

Some people seem to not like it, but I use the Pitbull Neck stand...I have had 2 different Katana's, 3 GSXR's, R6, ZX6R on that neck stand....none of which have fallen.

Your best bet is to get one that goes up under the steering stem.

That way if you pull your forks off you can still havr it on the stand , with a fork stand you'd be out of luck.

BTW if you find any up there for a good price let me know since I need one too.

I use the Vortex front stand...it wasn't cheap, but MAN is it nice! It takes no effort whatsoever to lift the front end, and it leaves plenty of room to work with wheels/brakes/axles, etc....

BTW, Kat's are a standard pin for front stands - 3/4" diameter.

Thanks for the input guys. It looks like I'll have to purchase another front stand. I was hoping there was an "adaptor" that will allow me to use the current one I have. BTW, what was the reasoning behind the uneven forks from a design perspective?

I'd say if you haven't bought yet, build yourself the pipe-stand with ratchet straps and support from above across the steering head.

As for the uneven fork lengths -- no clue.

                    Cheers,

Looks like the maker of the forks needed more metal for the axle pinch bolt.

I also have the Pitbull Neck Stand and I think it's great. Used it many times on my Gixxer and my Kat. Never had a problem. I don't think it was very expensive either, but I bought it a while ago...
