  • wide boots

so i think its time i get a decent pair of riding boots. short of going and trying them all on does anyone have a good starting point at least for boots that run a little wider?

according to the redwing shop i went to and got my work boots, i wear an 11 1/2 D. not sure how wide that really is. but i know most shoes i get never fit me right let alone a tight fitting riding boot.

anyone with wide feet care to show me the way ha

I've found that Riding boots are rather tight when you buy them based on your usual size.
A couple of friends of mine have had there's stretched at a shoe repair shop locally. It makes a huge difference.

Does Red Wing consider D a wide width? Most of the shoes that I have seen refered to a "wide width" are e or larger. I thought that D is considerd average.

I usually wear an "E" width. I have Oxtar Matrix boots and I have been happy with them. They are not the race boots so they are not super stiff.

You should check out the descriptions at New Enough. They usually do a little write up that explains how the stuff is sized or you can give them a call.

ya im kind of shocked too about the D width, i know my foot is wider than normal as every pair of shoes i have is to narrow. but the D redwings fit like a glove and the guy who fit my foot said it was wide to... so who knows.

i thought about stretching but most have armor on the sides and stuff that wouldnt let you stretch. at least the more race style boots, i guess ill have to look for more of a normal riding boot.

I know that they can stretch ski boots. They actually heat the shell and reshape it. I wonder if someone will do it for motorcycle boots? Does Red Wing carry motorcycle boots? That may be an option for you being that you know their stuff fits you.
