  • What are those weird shapes on the fairings?

It looks like a spot for either emblems or stickers, but on each side of the Kat has one (identical locations).

Brake side: Just above the rear brake fluid level indicator.
Shifter side: Just under the seat towards the front.

It catches the wax and I have to fingernail it off around the perimeter.

Those are protectors. Do not remove them. When you sit on the bike and look at them you will see why they were put there. I asked a mechanic at Suzuki what they were and thats what he told me.

are you talking about the clear protective film to keep your knees from rubbing through the paint?

Yeah, I noticed them the first time I waxed my Kat. I was told by the dude who services my bike that they're there to keep the tops of your boots from lifting / catching the decorative tape (stripe, whatever you wanna call it). I was gonna take it off, but I'm glad I didn't. Took off pretty much every other sticker though - thought it looked cleaner

Yes, I understand that, but they're more than likely going to charge me a rediculous amount... I wonder if theres a similar, cheaper product to use, maybe 3M film or something? It's just film.... maybe cell phone screen protector stuff?

see if you can locate the stuff they use for clear car bra's. Basically a thick clear film that's very moldable with heat.

Any clear polyvinyl adhesive with UV protection should work. You should be able to get enough to make a dozen of those protectors for under $10 at most signage shops.

                      Cheers,

Oops! Took mine off, but I don't have high boots so I haven't noticed any problems.
