just wondering what a kat 600 will do on 1/4 mile run
tried searching the web but couldn't find anything

Its performance is simliar to a sv650. 108 - 110 ish in quarter, once its corrected for air and hummidity. I think 12.0 - 12.2 for the time. Some one else will give you better numbers.
    Is Effingham a swear word?

I've found the following quarter mile statistics:

        Katana 600

Quarter Mile: 12.25 seconds; Speed: 108.4 mph

        SV650

Quarter Mile: 12.04 seconds; Speed: 107.2 mph

        Katana 750

Quarter Mile: 11.52 seconds; Speed: 116.2 mph

All statistics are quoted from the same source (Motorcycle Consumer Reports test bike index.)

those numbers are pretty good. I didn't think the kats were that fast. everyone is always telling me they are slow. mainly my brother he's got a busa. he just got his bike down to the upper 7 secounds.

            upper 7's?

            well...unless he is a pro...on a modded bike...he is yanking your chain.

Did anyone watch PINKS where the two turbo Busas were racing...MAN...they were FAST!

I think I want to call bs at running in the 7's. You are talking super modified at that speed. Even for a busa, I find that very hard to believe.

Well yeah, compared to a busa, just about any bike can be considered atleast somewhat slow.

Well, it seems "everyone" thinks the Kan-o-tuna is a slow lumbering beast but if you compare it to other bikes, I think you'll give it a little more repect.

                  Yamaha YZF-R6 Year 2001

Quarter Mile: 10.59 seconds; Speed: 128.1 mph

                  GSX-R600 Year 2001

Quarter Mile: 10.60 seconds; Speed: 128.2 mph

                  Kawasaki Z-R7 Year 2000

Quarter Mile: 12.39 seconds; Speed: 105.4 mph

                  Ducati 900SS Year 1999

Quarter Mile: 11.74 seconds; Speed: 112.7 mph

                  Honda VFR800FI Year 2002

Quarter Mile: 11.21 seconds; Speed: 120.1 mph

                  Buell XB9R Firebolt Year 2002

Quarter Mile: 11.83 seconds; Speed: 115.67 mph

As you can see the Katanas may not be the fastest bikes on the road but they are not lagging terribly behind in terms of speed. In fact, I would argue that a rider's skill level will make a bigger difference in the quarter mile than the bike itself given how close these statistics are.

BTW, the Hayabusa statistics are as follows:

                  GSX-1300R Year 1999

Quarter Mile: 9.84 seconds; Speed: 142.8 mph

These figures are from the Motorcycle Consumer News test bike ratings.

Just remeber that all the 600 SS last year ran under 10.5 in the 1/4 and all had speeds 125+. So the kat being 1.5 sec and 15mph slower is slower. But I am glad I bought it since I would have died learning on a SS bike.

do not make a blanket statement like "he can get into the seven's" without QUALIFYING it with the fact it is turbo'd, stretched and the guy races....

You can't pull crap out of the air...we are pretty sharp on this site.....that is why we called BS.

Now that you stated the facts...really...it is moot...because you can not compare a stock Katana to a DRAG BUSA.
