OK fellow Kat riders. I had to go to Home Depot this morning and, of course, I took my car. Whenever I'm in a car I always wear my seatbelt. However, I ride a motorcycle...well sorta...not many miles

Anyone else think that's strange? Maybe I should put a seatbelt on my Kat

I have nothing to say, I have no opinion. That's what I learned from 9 1/2 years of marriage.

There was actually a guy on the news that argued at a spot check up here that he shouldn't have to wear a seat belt because motorcyclists don't have to on thier bikes.

i think i speak for everyone when i say that wed rather get tossed from a tumbling bike, than be strapped to it. BUT wed rather remain in a tumbling car, than get tossed out and have the car on top of us. its all about a lot of common sense and a little bit of logic. but another thing... id rather be hit by a car/truck in a car without my belt on... than be hit on my motorcycle without a helmet on.

                    On another note:
Why no seatbelts on school buses? Seems like a no-brainer.

After 600 years, how come no seatbelts on the starship Enterprise?

                      Seat Belts on School Buses

Research has shown that the use of lap seat belts on a school bus has more drawbacks than advantages. In a head-on collision, the most common variety of school bus crash, the seat-belt user tended to hit the seat in front, resulting in severe or fatal head and neck injuries.

Further investigation demonstrated that combination lap/shoulder belts required stiffer seats, which could increase injury to unbelted students. Additionally, shoulder belts increased the chance of abdominal injuries because of submarining. Tests showed the crash test dummies would slip down, risking injuries to organs covered by the lap belts.

Bear in mind this reasearch was done using dummies rather than actual children so it may call in the question the validity of the testing.

                      Seat Belts on the Enterprise

Due to significant advances in the understanding and control of quantum mechanic technologies, most modern Federation ships use inertial dampening systems for dealing with massive acceleration/deceleration issues. Inertial dampers nullify or mitigate the effects of acceleration/deceleration.

Only in extreme cases, such as battle damage or overwhelming power, will inertial systems will fail to fully nullify acceleration/deceleration forces. Consequently, seat belts will serve little purpose on board and will only impede the daily operations of the ship.

In New Hampshire where the motto is "Live free or die" anyone over 18 years old does not have to wear a seat belt.

Things that make you go ..it just doesnt make sense at all. But therein lies a whole different argument of if the government should be telling you how to drive and whether you should have to wear a seatbelt or not.
