  • 2005 600 kats

A local newspaper ad has two 2005 600 Kats, and a 2004 GSF500 Suzuki for sale. The owner owns the 500 outright, but has a single loan for the two Kats.I may go look at them today or Saturday. I'd only be interetsed in one. The ad says he'd like someone to assume the loan, but the bank would let him sell one alone.
I had been more interested in the 750 Kat, as I want to use it sometimes to take some overnighters with my wife on the back. Should I go ahead and check these two out? Is the 600 comfortable and powerful enough to pull tow riders at 360 pounds total? I'd have to see what the pay off would be-the KBB price is at $4720.00. These bikes are low mileage. One has about 600, the other about 1800.

    Thanks, birdmove

from what i understand, the 600 actually has a higher weight capacity due to the lighter engine. as far as power, i'd go with the 750.

600 would be fine. I ride two up on my 600 and we're over 360. You'd be fine with it.

Check them out good? condition of the bikes? look for any maint. records etc., get all the info you can..with that low mileage they've barely been broken in. You can ride 2up on a 600 easily, no problem. Ive done it with myself and my wife before. I prefer the 750 though for the ergo's mainly and the extra power but if you can get a killer deal on the 600 by all means go for it.

I wouldn't assume the loan. buy one outright if you can. be SURE the bank agrees so there are no title issues.

is the power gain from a 750 worth the bulk and weight? especially for two people....

last time i hopped on a 750 , i couldn't believe how much more bulk there is on the front end. I've never actually ridden a 750, just sat on one.

according to suzuki's website the 750 is.......

.2" wider and 7 lbs. heavier......not really a lot of bulk, the extra power and torque is nice...

There's no appreciable difference between the two. You'll enjoy the extra power and lower end grunt of the 750 Kat.

i thought the ride position was the biggest difference, the 750s bars are a bit higher?

i say if your worried about power go with the 600 and swap in a bigger engine later if you think you need it. most likely the difference with a 600 and 750 will go unnoticed to most people. but a 600 next to an 1100 will be noticeable...

I bought an 05 600 last year and love it. I've never ridden a 750 though. Either way, you can't go wrong.

People "back in the day" used to tour ALL over the country on little 350's and stuff . I'm sure a 600 will make do just fine .

The riding position is different on a 750, its not as an aggressive stance as the 600.
