  • A different experience

I went out for a ride today, and on my way home I was stopped at a T intersection (with stop lights). The street I wanted to turn onto is a busy road. Especially at the hour I was there because of all the kids being picked up from school. Anywho, I'm first in line waiting to turn left. 1 turn signal cycle goes by... Then another... Did the whole kickstand routine. Another goes by... I look in my mirrors and see about 15 cars behind me. Another cycle goes by... Now, I'm sure we're all used to cagers getting on our arse when we're at a light. Not this time... I turn around and see the car behind me is like 2 car lengths away! Not even close to the indicators that trigger the lights. I notice they were two older ladies in a Mercedes SUV. I try to wave them forward, also pointing down at the indicators in front of them. I get the shoulder shrug back. I was tempted to hop off the bike and walk up to them to tell them to pull up so the light can be triggered, but I didn't want to scare the old ladys into thinking a biker was gonna car jack them... Maybe she would have gunned it and run over my bike. She was keeping her distance as it was.

So I thought, "F it..." Chuckling to myself as I made a right instead and rode off. Usually I get the tailgaters. Today was a totally different experience...

for some reason when im on the bike noone wants to pull up behind me at lights. if im first in line and theres 3 cars to my side already waiting to go straight ill see cars behind me change lanes to wait in line... makes no sense to me at all. my only guess has been they are thinking ill stall the bike and they will be stuck behind me. otherwise the light goes green and of course im the first to fly off the line leaving all 4 cars sitting back behind me. doesnt bother me though id rather not have them behind me ;p

when im in my car though people pull right onto my bumper which i hate. i like to leave enough space to get out if i have to.

It seems like no matter how many times you gesture for the cage behind you to pull up they never seem to get it. They're either too busy talking on the cell, yelling at the kids, or looking at you funny. I guess we cant complain too much cuz normally we gripe becuz they try and ride our arse while out on the road.

People around here don't seem to have a problem getting up close and personal with my rear tire; but if triggers the traffic lights, and they're not inching up everytime I look in my mirrors, then I count it as a win and ride off.
