I go to the U of Florida, and usually when I get to school there's a barage of scooters in the big rectangle for motorcycle parking. The problem is that they usually park in the front of the rectangle instead of going to the back (there's enough for two rows of bikes). The only way to access the back is then to go over to the side, hop the curb (which I scrap the bottom of my bike unless I take all of my weight off the bike), drive through the grass median, and hop back down the curb into the back area of the parking block. Now those damn scooters are easy as hell to lift up over the curb and drive off if stuck in the back. So, when there's scooters blocking my way, or scooters that park with too much space between each other but not enough to fit my bike, I usually pick them up and move them over so I can squeeze to the back spaces or squeeze into the front if the back is full. Yall think this is good etiquette? I'd be pissed if somebody moved my bike, but then again, my bike doesn't way less than 100 pounds and I always make sure I park intelligently. Anyways, I guess this is more of a confession than anything. I'm always gentle with the lifting and setting back down. However, if I see another asshole knock my mirrors out of alignment by bumping it or hanging their goddamn purse off of it (I actually witnessed this the other day but before I could get close enough to say anything she had pulled off from her horrible parking job on her pink scooter that from the looks of her and the scooter could have used one of Cyber's Ohlins shock ), I'm gonna kick somebody's ass.

Hang around some day until the scooter guys show up. Then explain the problem to them. I bet they would be more than happy to accomodate you.
I don't park near another bike unless I know the owner (like when I stopped my old engineering managers harley from cutting into the asphalt and falling this past summer by moving it for him).-Steve

umm it sound like its a pain to park double row in that spot, i mean sure it might seem like it would be easy for the scooters to pull forward then to hope the curb and drive in grass and whatever. but really you shouldnt expect them to do that. talk to the campus about either panting lines(not just a big box) or making the box bigger at least. giving people an open box to park in is always asking for problems. here motorcycle parking at malls and stuff has lines at least.03 katanika

I say you make little business type cards that you can leave them a note when you move their scooter saying something like "sorry for moving your bike/scooter, had to move your scooter slightly to fit my bike. If somethign is wrong, leave me a note (mine is the vehicle on your left)" Then park on their right hahahaha woooo yeah

Happens when you cram so many bikes in a spot like that . Had the same problems when I rode to work in the summer . Bikes had 2 little corners in the lot , and some people would just park right in front in the way . Some people come out and find their bikes moved . Had to do it myself a couple times . I told the guys next time I saw them , and they were cool with it , but some people are too stupid and will just get mad no matter WHAT happens .

problem is you could get blamed for damage you didn't cause. someone else knocks over one of the scooters and you get blamed for it because somebody saw you move a scooter. also, all those vehicles parked in a tight space is asking for damage to your bike. you already said the mirrors have been knocked around. what if you come out to find her laying on her side? I'd find somewhere else to park.
