  • Good luck charms and rituals....and riding

Got any good luck charms you carry with you whenever your ride? Maybe a cross necklace, or a rabbits foot, or a picture of your family maybe? Or perhaps its a ritual you do before and after each ride that you just have to do.

Other than wearing gear which should be a ritual and a good luck charm for us all ... I would imagine there's more than a few us that have an item or do something to keep the motorcycle gods smiling on us 8)

I keep a picture of me and crunchie in the clear map pocket of my tank bag so everytime I look down at the speedo and get on/off the bike I see it and it helps me to remember to always make sure I do whatever I can to ride safe and come home to her and the family.

I used to keep a chunk of amethyst I found at work in my pocket until I wrecked . Then I chucked it over the hill immediately afterwards . Also used to do the rabbit's foot thing when I first started riding , but it flew off my keychain . I actually caught it before it flew past me , but I realised I didn't really want that extra thing to worry about .
I am a fluffy lil cuddly lovable bunny , dammit !

      I carry two coins;

One is a "Heads I Win, Tails You Lose" coin

The other is a "Eagle Keeper" coin, it remembers the mechanics that maintained the F-15 Eagles.

Each are carried in seperate pockets of my jacket.
I don't know how fast my bike goes, I've never stopped to find out.

My riding suit always has an IMCO lighter in it:

Kind of a silly good luck charm and I don't want to get into the why, but it stays in my suit. And I don't smoke.
Life is short and uncertain: eat your dessert first and ride every day.

I just say the same simple prayer ever time I ride:

"Lord, please protect me as I ride. Please protect others as I ride. Take safely to my destination".

I just whisper it but it sounds pretty loud inside my helmet

I have a long and complicated one cmpared to many people -- it's called a pre-ride inspection...
Bike: Tire pressure & tire check, oil level, blinkers & lights, controls, chain, fuel level & petcock setting...
Myself: Earplugs, Gear (jacket, gloves, helmet, etc), iPod on...

So far it has brought me great luck (and saved me a couple times from what would have otherwise been dangerous or fool-hearty).

            Cheers,

when i go riding(well it started out as only riding now its for everything) my left shoe has to go on first.
left glove has to go on first.
check the choke 2 times(open close all the way).
squeeze the clutch two full times before start up, then before putting it in first.
always have my pocket knife when i go riding, i just feel like i need that.
then i say some stuff to myself, not really a prayer. but more of a jedi calming method lol.

                  I always resite the following.....

"Wonder how fast I can get her to today..."

                  and,

"I hope its fast enough to get away from the cops again..."

Nothing I really do except make sure the lights are good, chain is not loose, stuff like that. Maybe change out seats from Solo-Cowl single seat to Gel Seat depending on if I am 2 up riding that day or what not.

Ok, maybe the answer would be:
My lucky charms ride under my seat in the form of an all-emergency tool-kit set-up (see related thread: KR - Whats under your seat? )

                        Cheers,

I bought a dude a bell for his bike once. I should have gotten Range one of those Scares off the road gremlins. Cruiser riders use them. But they only work if another rider gives you the bell. They don't work if you get it yourself.

I have a flower (from one of those coin operated toy machines, where you pick it up with claws) that was from a friend while we were out riding, it has been under my seat for almost 3 years.
