  • Want to add clock to dials

    I would like to change the "empty" dial on my 600 (next to the fuel gauge) to include a clock. Any ideas?

    There are stick on or screw mounted clocks.
    Or clocks that fit into a standard dash opening.
    (more expensive)
    These were on ebay for a 280Z

      Since you have a 2000, I think someone switched gauges on you, because the clock is there by default on the 2000 models ('98 didn't have 'em, but did get raised emblems)...

      You have a few choices:
      (A) Replace the gauges with another set that does have the clock integrated (watch eBay) -- note mileage from whatever bike the gauges came from will be what shows up in the Odometer;
      (B) Buy just the clock and install it (Suzuki part number 34720-08F50, about $125 through RonAyers.com, probaby $150 through your local dealer);
      (C) Skip the idea of having the clock integrated and simply get one that attaches to your handlebar ($20) or replaced the top of your steering stem nut (about $35 if I recall).

      Cheers,

            Hey does anyone know if the newer 1998+ gauges will fit on a 1990 Katana? Mine are broken and if I have to buy them I'd rather buy the newer ones.

            Thanks!

              Not without serious modifications. The wiring, speedo sender method, etc are all different, the size is different, and the mountings are different. Among other things, you'd have to install an output shaft sensor at the front sprocket to measure the output RPM's (which drive the speedo, rather than a cable off the front wheel like yours).

                Thanks for the quick answer! I'll stich with the stock gauges.

                Hopefully I can put this bike back on the road before summer!

                  OK,

                  Question number two!

                  Can I use 88-97 Katana 750 gauges on my 1990 Katana 600? The gauges are different sizes but do they match up other than that?

                  I just seem to see more 750 gauges on eBay right now than the 600 gauges. Also I like the larger tach & speedometer.

                    Someone else needs to jump in on this answer -- I don't have it.

                        i was thinking about doing a "ghetto" mod and buy a cheap watch from walmart, taking off the band, and glueing or using double-sided tape and putting it about the fuel gauge on a pre 750. ugly, but functional.

                          Why take the band off ? Just wrap it around your bars . I've been riding like that for 3 years .

                              Need some MORE tips ? Get a waterproof watch with a good light . My $10 watch lasted about 2 years on my bike .
