  • SOB!! It Finally Happened

I had come home today from school with a truck parked abnormally close to my bike (like it was sharing the same parking space). I looked at it and figured they had enough room, so I went in to go to bed. Not even five minutes later I hear a loud crash. SOB!! I already knew what happened- sh!t. So I go outside and they have already stood the bike upright. When they were backing up they were cutting the wheel and it caught the bike tipping it over onto the right side. Lucky, it only broke the mirror and turn signal. The fairings are toast already and I am installing new ones soon. Told the guy $50 cash and we called it fair- the guy worked for my apartment complex so I was cool about everything. And it didnt damage my new tank thank goodness- otherwise I would be claiming insurance on that one.

Wow that really sux man !! Sorry dude.

Im always leary of someone parking close to me w/the bike, too many things can easily happen when they are parked normal, let alone when you get a freekin big foot trying to back in and out of a 99 center store sized parking space.

I already have new mirrors and turn signals that I will be replacing with the fairings, so its not really that big a deal for me. I figured the money would buy my new windshield for the bike. They were cool and didnt try to drive off so I wasnt going to be an ass and charge him for something that was already broke (refering to my fairings). Now when my paint job is done then I am all about being an ass

Kudo to you for not being a jerk about the situation. It sucks having your bike dropped, but at least it was already messed up. BTW did you make sure that your brake levers were straight?

Sooo what your more or less saying you'd be a jerk about it? What would it gain you? It's not like the guy hit the bike on purpose.

Kudos to you dude for just calling it even at $50. I would hope I would do the same, going after him for all you can would only create an enemy.

as long as he is happy with the deal, cool...

obviously, i share in md86's feelings that $50 wouldnt even begin to "fix" someone knocking my scooter over, even if it were already rashed (which it is not )... accidents happen-- i am not saying that i would be an ass about it, but a report will be filed, dude WILL pay, and thats all there is to it... i happen to be exceptionally close to a bike-savvy paralegal--- bring it on, state farm...

Very noble to take the $50, and way to walk the path of pacifism.

You could have easily just had all the parts you recently bought suddenly paid for... it isnt like HE would have paid for it, his insurance would have. Who cares if you screw those idiots?

I suppose it is noble of you, but i would have been slightly worried about internal wreckage (i take my bikes in after any tip, $50 bucks for piece of mind and a good lookover by a professional is worth it IMO), thus woulda filed and had it checked out just in case.

                      To each his own.

See , thing is , there COULD be other things besides the OBVIOUS damage . Pegs or mounts could be bent/cracked . Engine covers , too . Gaskets for said engine covers could get knocked loose . All that and more . No , I'm NOT saying you should've "stuck it to him" , but I wouldn't have been so cool with a simple $50 , either . Tough situation .

I would be in jail now if that was my Kat.

Glad you handled that so well.
I don't know how fast my bike goes, I've never stopped to find out.

Eventually we all pay for it with our insurance rate increases.
