  • 2 piece leather suits: What do you know?

I'm searching to find a set of 2 piece leathers. I think I've narrowed my search to the Teknic Lighting, Alpine* Gpu, and Joe Rocket GPX.

Now, I've taken a look at motorcylcegear review, and seen some bad reviews on all the suits (of course no one is ever really happy) but I'm currently leaning toward the teknic.

    Suggestions? Comments?
    -Steve

Technic seem cheap but I have never laid hands on them.. Up close pics, but not hands..
Prices can be really good on them though.

Didn't Range have a JR gpx suit?
    Yup here it is:

Range has the dubious Honour of crashing in both a Joe Rocket Highside suit and a GPX suit .

Actually I think Jackal has a GPX also but I may be wrong. I've got a Joe rocket speedmaster jacket and matching pants and am very happy with them.

The teknic is (I think) made of Goat leather rather than cow.

The best suggestion I can give you is see if you can try the different suits on and go from there.

Definitely try on as many suits as you can as no two makers have the same sizing or fit. Never just buy one online without trying them on first !!

Personally, I do have the JR GPX and have not had any complaints with it (besides needing suspenders cuz of some weight loss).

Good luck. And remember, whatever suit you do buy will always be better than a pair of jeans or shorts.

Some people are a lot like Slinkys.
Not really good for anything, but bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

The teknic "Sport" pants are made of cow hide, The "Chicane" pants are made of goat hide.
I have the Chicane pants and you can't tell that they aren't cow hide. I like them, Fit well and are vary comfortable. I haven't been down in them so I don't know how well they will do in an accident.

I actually went down to kneedraggers.com's retail store today and the nice girl there let me try on a bunch of the JR rental suits, and some the Alpine*s as well. Although the Alpine they had was a size too small for me, I thought the pants fit better than the JR did (of course those were used and broken in by someone else).

I was looking at newenough, and that's where I found the Teknic.

My purpose is to have a decent suit that will pass for track use should I actually go someday.

I know that none of these are $2k roo skin suits.

So cow is better than goat,
              Roo is better than cow?

For the record, it's usually the JR ballistic pants *over* shorts with my alter-ego jacket. I also know that it's time for leather for the real riding after I get the kat finished (engine swap this weekend!).

Found a HJC jacket and pants on ebay. They feel great, I just wish I ordered +1 size to layer for warmth.

Which A* set did you order Doc?

Personally, I have the A* Dyno jacket and Track pants and love 'em. Very comfy and lots of armour.

it is what you feel confortable wearing, JR is good stuff and technic too. you definitely can't go wrong with a two piece that has the 360* zipper w/8" to go with. I like the two piece over the one piece for ease of getting into.

Good luck at finding a suit and post pics when you find what you are looking for. I think in this forum there is a review thread that can give you some idea's on what suit is best that has been tested.

                              Nice suit Doc. 8)

STEVES - Remember, every brand of suit fits differently. If a size 38 JR suit fits you, an 38 A* WON'T fit you. It's very important to find a dealer and try things on BEFORE ordering them online.

                              Have fun shopping
