  • you ever get that...not so confident feeling??

It took me about 2 weeks to get used to freeway driving when i got my bike last year. Within the last 6months, once in awhile , i've had this feeling while riding , like i have no busniess being on the freeway.

I get alittle anxious, too much wind pushing me around, too many cars and BAD DRIVERS.I've actually got off the freeway and taken surface roads instead. This doesnt happen all the time maybe once every couples weeks. just wondering if you more experienced riders ever get his feeling.

New riders get this feeling alot..its only natural. But riding on the highways is a challenging experience all stages of experienced riders. There's alot more to deal with. Trucks, wind gusts and drafts, crazy drivers, etc.

You did the right thing I agree, if you're not comfortable with it all the time..then take to the roads you are comfortable with. You'll not want to swing the other way completely though and avoid them at all costs..becuz you need that experience and you need to get as comfortable with it as possible becuz sooner or later, a situation will come up where u will have to ride on the highways.

Besides the back roads are more fun anyways

This is the main reason I keep my car...sometimes you get up in the morning and something tells you not to ride that day...bad storm, snow, wind gusts, sliver of glass in the foot...diarreah...what ever it may be...listen to that voice in your head...or if you are like me the whole bunch of voices in my head...most likely you are not going to regret it....redrum...redrum..(ok maybe in this case you will)......

I avoid the Highway as much as possible on the bike. It's just so boring droning along in a straight line.

Listen to the little voice. I'm sure you'll find many here that have and avoided trouble because they did.

Avoid riding on the highway at peak times. Practice when traffic is light. (is traffic ever light in Cali?!)

You'll get used to it over time. People hate driving the highway when they first start driving a car as well, but it grows on ya.

Yep, sometimes the little voice inside just says "PARK IT!"

I heard it at my last track day. I was out on the track and things just didn't feel right. I pulled in and parked the bike. There were still two sessions left in the day, but my bike went on the trailer anyway.

              Listen to yourself.

i get the feeling 'im sitting on an engine, with some wheels strapped to it. hurtling my body unprotected inches from the road, competing for space with massive suvs being driven by morons.... what am i thinking!!!' then i smile say the hell with it and gun it.

i've driven the freeways alot in the past 1 1/2yrs, i am fine with it. I prefer the freeway when possible cause ovbiously its faster. Though when im just cruising around the surface streets are muhc funner

Aww yes the famous unconfident feeling. That feeling you get when you are headed into a shallow corner and yet something in the back of your mind shakes itself lose and says 'this is going to be bad' even though what you see with your eyes and feel with your touch seems just fine. *nudges Range* eh buddy? We know that feeling.

The sense of instint is very powerful. If it feel wrong, then follow your gut feeling it usually turns out to be correct in the end.

Getting over confident is when you run into problems. I take the back roads all the time. But sometimes I have no choice but to hit the interstates and expressways.

                          good call man !!

Whatever you wanna call that little voice.. an angel, a feeling, or whatever.. it usually wont steer you wrong.

Ive not rode some days becuz something just told me not too, or there were too many things gone wrong in the morning that just didnt make me feel comfortable riding that day. Although for me, mornings are usually all wrong anyways, just becuz its morning

Yep if I am not feeling it I will not ride. There is too much going on while riding. If your head is not in the game you can get into trouble.

I only ride the interstate once in a while, and NEVER in rush hour traffic. I'd rather take backroads or highways.
