    Hello world

    So I've been looking at motorcycles for a little while, trying to find a great bargain. I think I found one. It is a 1992 gsx-f 750. From what I can find it's a katana?

    I've never been super in to sport bikes, but for some reason this one has my attention. I actually really like the look of it, and if all goes well I'll be taking it home Friday morning for less than $400.

    Owner claims it runs, but judging from the thick layer of dust on it, it hasn't moved in a while. I'm hoping there aren't any major issues, but what should I watch out for? Any common fail points? I understand these bikes are cabureated so I'll likely have to clean the carbs before I even consider riding it. But what else? Electrical issues? Oil leaks? Areas prone to rust? It's been stored in a garage since the owners had it so I don't expect rust, but you never know.

    Welcome....your in luck. the katana is a sport touring bike, not a true sport bike.

            Welcome!!!and yeah if it's set up a while before prepared to remove the carbs..thoroughly clean and rebuild it's not very hard to do...I just did mine and it makes a world of difference.There's a great thread here for carburetor rebuild it used it

            If it sat up a long time I'd check tires,chain,gas tank,brakes,hopefully no mice made a home anywhere they love the airbox lol...better safe than sorry

              No, its not very comfortable if your 6ft tall and 200lbs. Be honest everyone! Your thighs will cramp and your nuts will hurt. Also, if your broke, lazy, or don't have any mechanical ability, don't bother. Wait, I just described myself...Ok, Ok... If you ride the bike all summer long, expect to buy tires every year. You'll need tools and gear ect... Its an expensive, time consuming paper weight otherwise.

                If you want comfort get a cruiser. Katanariders right it ain't cheap and you may get sore after a longish ride

                  I'd disagree. I'm 6'2" 220 lbs...I think it's great for long rides. I've also got a Corbin seat, that definitely helps.
                  It's easy to work on and reliable. Got 130k miles on my first one before a car hit me. Sooner I can do the work myself, it's cheap. If you can't... It's getting more expensive too find someone willing/able/competent to work on carbs

                    Agreed I have the factory seat soooo.if you shop around parts aren't gonna break you. So far I've been working on mine myself no shop work yet

                      Y'all are speaking post-98 comfort ! Dudes talking pre-98. The pre-98 600cc are the worst for comfort. The 750cc seems a bit better because its seat doesn't have as much of a dip. That dip on the 600cc keeps the rider from sliding backwards on the seat and makes you bend your back and knees more.

                            I don't want to sound like a braggart or a liar. I left Far West Texas one summer morning around 10, headed for the Dragon, didn't stop but three or four times for gas and food, and settled into a bed the next morning just before the sun rose east of Little Rock, Arkansas...oh, there I go. Anyway, 500 miles in one stretch was never a problem. And the Kat is a comfy bike. I always loved those marathon rides.

                            Okay. I don't ride now because we moved from West Texas to Colorado, the mountains summer of 2012. There are three reasons why I got off the bikes and am better off on a horse.

                            1. Tourists driving crazy in the summer
                            2. Pot holes that appear randomly every spring
                            3. Wildlife on the road up here that if you hit it, it might chase you down and
                            devour you, or at least maim you

                            I just jump on here every now and then because the folks here are groovy and I am sentimental. Ride safe!

                              Man you said it right zuma..I seriously can't wait till next spring to put some major miles on the kat...I might even try a 500 or so miler just to see if I can..didn't i see a post somewhere that you have an aftermarket seat
