  • 2005 gsxf 750 starting problem

I have a 2005 Suzuki katana that died on me after I bought it from a guy. It started just fine during the test drive and a couple other times after I bought it. I only have drove it about 7 miles. I have gotten a new battery, new spark plugs, and new oil. The starter spins and spins the gears but the engine never starts... Can you help me?

Does the engine turn over? Is the run switch in the 'run' position? Do you actually have fuel in it, above 1/4 tank (gauge reading).

Can you post a video ( youtube ) of what its doing?

Your bike has carbs, is it possible you have flooded it trying to start it?
try to start it COLD with half/ choke! try that a couple of times. if that doesn't work use no choke with full throttle to see if it wants to fire. remember only use the starter for a few seconds at a time/ With fresh gas and new plugs and a good battery it should start.

The engine doesn't really turn over I don't guess. I haven't tried starting it with full throttle so I can try that. Everything spins though. I'm not sure if there is a short in the electrical or not

Are you using the choke? How much fuel is in it? Might have to change petcock from run to "res"

You should be able to look it up now. It's under katana 750. It's 9 seconds long

Ok can you tell us who installed the battery, new plugs and did the oil change. Are the plug wires attached to the plugs? sorry have to ask??
does it fire at all ? or back fire? Just looking for more info here/

Wow , that explains a few things its just the starter spinning and not engaging /

You have a starter engagement issue. Pull the starter gear cover ( left side of the engine) retorque the bolt down.
