  • Katana GSX1100F noob

Just picked up a pair of 95 GSX1100F's. Have had a terrible time finding parts and info for these things beyond a service manual I found online. Any pointers welcomed gladly.

Correction...They would be 1991's. That would explain the difficulty in finding parts.

And it will continue to be as such. Rare rides there. 1100 Kat owners here should be able to help you with any info needed. The 17" wheel conversion will help with tire size problems.

'95?? What country you in? Here in the states they stopped importing in 94. You can probably use most parts 89 and onwards, 88 is has some parts unique to that year (frame and forks immediately jump to mind)

This one...check the date on the VIN label.

So I was told they were 95's, turns out they're 91's and California models at that. I'm in a non emissions county in Utah so the California crap is going...going...gone. Any known adjustments needed for the carbs when removing that stuff? I've searched the forums, though not as extensive as i probably could, theres so much material on here, just looking for some how toos, images or links that will help me speed this process along. TIA

Your post is kind of vague. Also, no titles with either bike? Anywho, how about u let us know your history as-far as mechanical abilities, and we can get you in the right direction. Neither bike should touch pavement till u have at-least checked fluids and tires. After that, go over charging system and check chain/sprockets. Then, move-on to bearings all around. If ur savvy, check ur valve lash.

Having the manual is a good start.

There is a thread on carb setup by carb type.

No carb adjustments needed when pulling off the emissions equipment. You will need to make/buy block off plates for the bits that plug into the engine right by the exhaust headers.

However, all kats in the US come with the air fuel screws at a less than optimal setting. 2.5 turns from lightly seated is what you want those at. More oomph, easier start up, faster warm up. And free

Also, not required, but will give your bike more power - change the carb jetting to non-CA spec. The different jets will run you about $150. Again, not required, but more power is always nice. If your interested, let me know and I can dig up what you need for that (part #s, etc)

Also, not required, and not related to pulling the emissions bits off, but a jet kit from factory pro will add a little oomph. (And this jet kit would not include what you need to convert from CA spec to non-CA spec, no one makes a kit for that) They run for ~$120

I didnt initially have the titles in hand when i got the bikes, the guy had to gather them up. I was unsure of how to tell the years of the bikes by the vin only, since my initial post I obtained the titles and learned they were 91 year model bikes. One bike was nearly complete but disassembled enough to need a good deal of research to figure out the hose routing and connections for the carbs alone not to mention all of the added stuff for the california emissions equipment. I have removed all of the california emissions equipment and plugged off all of the holes left behind. I am a Mopar Master Technician by trade so you could say that I'm well versed in the automotive world but just now delving into the intricacies of the carbureted cycle world. I do have a Haynes manual that could stand to be a little more thorough in some places but will suffice.

I would be very interested in knowing carb rejetting part numbers. I'm not a power junky but I would like it to run to its best potential and then some if, as you stated, is all possible with jetting. I am still rounding up my test equipment from my volkswagen carb syncing days so I do have some experience in rejetting and syncing multiple carbs.

Righto, here ya go: part #s

I spent a fair number of hours looking around the interwebs trying to find information the first go around. I usually order from ronayers.com as it tends to be cheaper, but the only information I could confirm was for the bikebandit part#s. Total came to $166 with tax and shipping. (needle jet ~$20 each, [owie] pilot air jet ~$10 each, pilot jet ~$7 each)
