  • Just picked up a new kat :)

Picked up a 1989 750 Kat with 40K from a mature owner. Has a minor oil leak (I suspect oil filter), cam chain needs checking and valves are a little clicky, but it pulls like a freight train and rides like a dream. Excited to get her back to tip/top shape so I can play in the hills of Los Angeles.

PS - where do ya'll keep photos online to use links? This site does not like my https google photo link...

          Welcome

I use imgur.com for all my image hosting. I can upload via the app on my phone and organize my pictures in to different albums.

Clean the kat up really good and puff some baby powder on it and watch for new leaks. My bets on the oil filter or clutch cover gasket.

You'll want to get the valves checked at that mileage if your unsure when it was last done. .

--they are definitely very noisy though

Is this true, or just something people tell themselves to feel better?

I have what I thought was cam chain or valve noise, but the bike runs fine otherwise...

It is true but, since it's new to you, I would check it anyway.
