  • 1992 Kat750 first bike!

    Hi everyone,
My name's Will and I just bought a 1992 Katana 750. It's my first bike, besides riding on the kids' dirtbike... Thanks for the forum!

Couple questions, the kid I bought the bike from took off both mufflers before I got it. It's too loud for me, what's the cheapest way to quiet it down? I've looked up new exhaust for the bike but I only paid $900 for it to begin with, so I don't want to spend hundreds for mufflers... Edit: almost forgot, am I going to fry my exhaust valves or do any other damage riding it with just straight pipes for the time being?

Also, anything I should check or replace right away since it's such an old bike, and I don't have much history on it?

Thanks again, I'll see you around the forum.

      Welcome Will.

Be happy that you got a great deal, and recognize that it was partly due to the issues that need addressed. One way to greatly reduce costs though would be to do the labor yourself. Parts are usually a minimal piece of the overall cost at a shop. Doing your own work will not only save you all those labor fees, but you will also learn more about your bike in the process.
