New to katriders, from NYC

    New to katriders, from NYC

    Hey All,

    Newbie from NYC. I've got an 02 600 with 3500 miles. Glad to have found the forum because I've got allot of questions, since my bike has been sitting since 06

    Welcome!

    Carbs are probably going to need cleaning. Go to the wiki and read/download/follow carbs 102 - it's a how to for cleaning/rebuilding them.

              Where in NYC?
              I commute from Hoboken to Sheephead Bay during the week.
              Most of the time on my pre-gen Ninja 250, but sometimes on my SV650 or 98 Katana 750.

              When I bought my Kat, it had sat in the garage for almost 8 years.
              I had to pull the tank, carbs, and replace sparkplugs, check the valves, throttle sync, etc.. fresh fuel mixed with Seafoam does the trick, ran the engine at full rpm range take some long rides and the bike runs like it should after one or two tank.
              Difficult to find time/place to ride out a full tank of fuel around NYC, using the full rpm range, maybe take a ride out to Montague on LIE.

                Welcome to the forum. With your bike sitting that long, the entire fuel system needs cleaning, as well as the usual maintenance items, but be sure to carefully exam your tires. They may have lots of thread left on them, but tires dry rot after sitting for so long, so inspect the sidewalls for cracks. Good luck with your new toy.

                    Few times a months I would ride out to Hollis Hills in Queens to visit the in-laws.

                    Find yourself some excellent moto-related resources in NYC, HERE.

                    Stuff like how-to fight traffic tickets in NYC, parking garage, mechanics, etc..
