  • first bike after a 4 year gap and boy is she a dog!!!!

My first bike after getting wrote off by a 4x4 went out today and picked up an 1995 gsx600f katana and boy is it rough!!! Gonna need lots of help with this!!! It's hard to start when it does it revs through the roof then tends to die once warm still keeps stalling revs high when bars turn to the right stalls when changing from 2nd to 1st! Front brake needs attention as extremely poor! Plus more but these are my primary issues

Welcome mad revs, check for hanging or caught throttle. Carb cleaning is due.

on closer inspection the stalling could be the collapsed fuel line

That'll do it but doesn't explain why it just runs with the choke on (more fuel).

Save yourself a lot of time and headaches, Pull the carbs and give them a proper cleaning (http://katriders.com/vb/showthread.php?t=63344 ) , and while the carbs are off drain and check the fuel tank for rust and crap. These Kat’s do not require a whole lot to run, so if it will start and then dies it is a really good indication your carbs need service, also check the boots connecting the carbs to the head and the air box for cracks and yes replace the fuel lines as well. One more thing, make sure it has an oem style air filter and air box.
