  • New Kat rider with a few questions....

hey guys. My name is Chris. I just purchased a 92 katana 750 and absolutely
love it but i am having some issues....when i start it (cold) it will almost immediatly jump to 3000rpm while choked. if i try to play with choke at all it stalls right out. also, while riding, if i have the bike at anything above 3000 rpm, and let off the throttle, the bike will stay at the same rpm even if i hit the clutch. makes it very scary when you need to slow down and your machine wont let you im thinking its a carb rebuild and its not something i want to handle myself. any local guys that are capable? any help would be greatly
apprieciated! glad to be a part of katriders!

Could be a vac leak, dirty carbs, improper carb setup, leaking seals in the carb...... Check for simple stuff first- vac leak at all connections to and from the carb, the airbox should have a hose going to the ground, with a plug in it. Check the rubber boot connections at the head, there is a O-ring under the flange at the head.
