  • If you don't read my "I'm a noob" post you don't know what your missing out on

So I just picked up my first bike yesterday. And guess what, it's a Katana! 1993 gsx600f. It's pretty decent, runs good, starts good, but definitely has it's issues.

Some mods done to her...double bubble windshield, LED turn signals, complete removal of the rear fender, Vance and Hines exhaust, "alligator" seats, LED license plate lights. LED lights mounted under the tail and inside the fairings and custom bar ends.

Some things needing fixed...Stress cracks in the fairings, mostly around the mounting screws, missing screws for the fairings, poorly done paint job. LED turn signals turn on, but they don't blink, needs new tires badly.

Some things I intend on doing...full wrap...skulls, blood, crazy lines...you know the cool stuff. Paint the rims. I'm not found of the graphite color they are now but it looks good with the current theme. Street fighter front end mod...I want to chop the front fairings down a bit get rid of the old headlight and put something new and up to date on this beast. And once I am experienced enough mechanically in the bike world, I would like to do some engine mods.

Some info about myself...I have been an old school Japanese car enthusiast for many years, mostly drift cars, and have owned everything from mr2s to gsx eclipses to 240sx all from the 90s decade...and much like my love for old school Japanese cars, I love old school Japanese bikes, and likewise I kind of have a samurai fetish, so the Katana kind of fits ya know. I am very much a newb when it comes to bikes, I've only ridden a few and never owned my own until now. But I'm no dummy when it comes to mechanics and customizing things, so I will be posting mods that I do, things I fix and of course questions when I need some help along the way.

I'd hold off on painting until next year - get a season of riding experience under your belt. Something like 70% of new riders go down in their first 6 months. No sense messing up good paint. (Also - get good gear!)
Good luck and welcome to the neighborhood!

Yea, I will definitely hold off on the bodywork for a bit, but I think I'm just going to go with a full graphic vynal. As for gear I want an icon airmada helmet or a gmax g11d. I was looking at the armored hoodies, know anyone who has one? If so do they like it and will it actually protect me if I do happen to go down? For the small issues I'm having with the bike could you direct me where to find the solutions for them? The blinkers are really my main concern, I've found a few threads with people having similar issues, but none of them seem to post the fix once they fixed it haha. Thanks for the welcome btw.

I live in a pretty small town in the country, if I go to the advanced auto and ask for that they will probably look at me cross eyed...possibly even pop a blood vessel tying to think about it hehe, have a link possibly? Or a starting point maybe? Thanks for the suggestion.

resistors are available as well. add in-line to increase load for flasher. also UPS/FedEx probably delivers internet orders.

LED compatible "electronic flasher". If you have an advance, it's probably sitting on the shelf with those specific words. Make/model doesn't matter for the vehicle compatibility, so pick the one that says on the package works with LED, it's electronic, and it's cheapest of those options at the store.
