Laugh if you want but my cover is from a huge commercial grill. It's larger than my bike so I'm able to tuck it under the tires worse-case scenario and put a strap around the middle of the bike so it doesn't come off. I just keep my bike in the garage now tho

There are several soft covers in varying prices. The cheapest from like walmart will work but won't last much more than a season or 2 and need replaced "often". The $60-$100 price range covers can last longer, but do your research on the name brand and check reviews.


The Speed-way retractable covers are temporary style shelters that fold up and down. Cloth type covers with a hard frame, the bike sits in. It's a "temp" shelter in that it's light and easily moveable so you shouldn't have issues with your apartment management with using it. Do your sale price search as many locations sell them, but here is the OEM website...





If you have a tow capable vehicle, I've seen people use a small enclosed trailer as the bike storage with simple stabilizing blocks/jacks for when not attached to your vehicle. Many apartment complexes will have aux parking of some sort for that if you don't have enough assigned parking.


Storage buildings are a really safe way to store the vehicle, but come with a monthly cost.

I have used both of these and they are excellent. I found the Nelson Riggs a little better at water repelling, but they are both fine covers. A Katana takes a size large and you can get them for much cheaper, these are the manufacturers prices shown in the links.

I bought the Dowco Powersports Guardian cover 3 years ago because it had the best reviews and comes with a lifetime warranty. I've been satisfied with it so far until the other day my 600 was blown over in the wind and I found a couple holes in it after. I intend to call them and hopefully they'll honor the lifetime warranty.

My experience with Nelson Rigg is that their saddlebags are not good quality, but they have fair prices considering the lifetime warranty. They replaced them for me free, quick, and without any hassle, although that may have been in part thanks to the dealership I bought them from.

Another +1 on the Dowco. I just got one about a year ago and am very happy with it. It fits well and is heavy duty. I previously had a cheap, PVC Nelson-Rigg Econo cover; I was trying to be too cheap, and it was crap.

$15 silver outdoor tarp from Harbor Freight, 11'x 15', enough to cover my Ninja 250 and my Katana 750. I secure the tarp with bungee cords, looks ghetto, but works great.
