  • Earbuds

I have a wireless bluetooth stereo headset, and was wondering how you felt about earbuds due to the possibilities of them getting jammed in your ears if you have an accident. I'm I taking it over the top thinking that way and it's reasonably safe. Or should I just find another option. The headphones are great and do a great job when I ride. I work with sound as how I make my living, so I'm not trying to risk it.... at all.

I'd say if you take a hard enough bang on the head to get earbuds physically jammed in your ear, the only person worrying about them will be the undertaker.

yea your over thinking it man. Earbuds only become a hazard, in my opinion, when you try and block outside noises. I wear one earbud in my right ear (exhaust side) and its plenty of music without drowning out sounds I want/need to hear.

and the other thing for me is where my cord goes, last thing I want is my wire of body part getting hung up or caught.

Ok...I got my SD10-hd in , and yup...too tight for helmet use.

My helmet (thankfully) is super tight, so there's no way this thing is squeezing in under it.

BUT, it IS a very nice BT. I've used it on my android phone (Razr Maxx) several times and it connects quickly, everytime, all the controls work, and the mic is responsive. The battery life in definitely in the hours range and recharge time is good.

                I'm trying these next.

Try some ear buds It'll do the same trick for much cheaper.. You might want to consider the earbuds with the soft tips. It'll definitely prevent it from getting stuck in your ear.

I find the soft "marshmallow" earbuds also block out a bit more of the outside noise. That's what I wear when I have tunes playing when riding. I also find the older hard plastic buds hurt my ears after a while so I avoid them.

Her is what I am using [ame="http://www.amazon.ca/Klipsch-IMAGE-S4i-Isolating-Earphones/dp/B00264GYMG"]Klipsch IMAGE S4i Premium Enhanced Base Noise Isolating Earphones with 3 Button Apple Control - Amazon.ca[/ame] . They are noise cancelling but if you do not go stupid loud with them you can still hear what you need to hear( sirens, horns etc.). They are comfortable and stay in the ear. I also use the earbuds that came with my Samsung G3 and they work very well also.

I just tried using ear buds for the first time the other day, I could hear traffic but I couldn't hear my bike due to the factory exhaust. I took them out after a few miles because I didn't like looking at the rpms because I couldn't hear to shift. I just got new louder exhaust so I will try again.

I never tried but can you talk with your ear buds in your lid?

I have a harder time hearing with them in for sure, but I also don't worry to much about my RPM's because I still have to watch my speed. I am using these

and they are freaking AMAZING for the price. Highly recommend. They dampen my hearing of course, but as long as you are being reasonable with your volume, you should still be able to hear everything else. Conversations are harder though.

I think it's that thing they put on the side of a road that is only a suggestion.

Although, I have yet to understand those red and blue lights that show up from time to time. Just get on the throttle a little, and they disappear.
