  • Cleaning a chain

For years I had always used oil on my chain by I started using chain wax. To clean a chain covered in oil I always used kerosene and rags to clean the chain but how do I clean a chain that was been covered in wax?

I use kerosene, a disposable baking tin for drips and a cut down paintbrush to clean the wax/oil off of my chain.

I use this stuff........ the best I've ever used in all my years riding.
FLUID FILMŪ is Eureka’s own unique lanolin-based brand of corrosion preventive and lubricant, used worldwide in a multitude of industries and applications.

+1 on the fluid film. I love that stuff! I can ride about 600-800 miles, including getting caught in the rain a couple times, before I start to see any rust. It lasts far longer than any of the other chain lubricants... do some reading and try it out; I'm sure you'll find the same. It has lots of other uses too, so I'm a big fan.

I have no skin in this game. When I packed my bags to ride out to the East Coast last summer, it's all I brought with me lube-wise. Rain......rain.....and more rain til I got to Vermont. The stuff is incredible.
