  • post shock on pre 600

Does anyone know if a post rear shock will fit on a pre 600. I just bought a post rear wheel to use on my 96 600, and it came with the swingarm and shock, I'm also wondering if there would be any benefit using any of the newer parts. Thanks in advance.

To use the post swingarm in a pre frame you would need to shave aprox 2.5mm off each side of the pivot. Once that is done, the complete package will bolt up. I don't think the clerance is the same for the post shock/swingarm as the pre shock/swingarm, so I would need to actually try the pairing to see if using the parts interchangable would work. I'm think off hand no... post with post parts.

I know the linkage (cushion and links ) MUST stay with the swingarm your using.

The post swingarm is longer, so you will need at least a new chain as well. Also the brake assembly on the post is on the bottom, vs top on the pre... so some mods will be needed there with either swapping parts (simple ) to swapping mounting points (more difficult and needs welding).
