  • And the lord said, "Let there be Katana"...

Today was my first day with my Katana. I'll post pics later (on the phone now), but she's got a custom burnt orange paint job with red led underglow, brand new battle axe rear tire, smoked windscreen, 15k miles, and a 2003 model year.

And how much did I pay? An average amount.

Anyways...it was a two hour drive one way to get to this bike. And the ride home was...cool. I like the kat...

Tl;Dr: Sold a ninja 250, bought a kat, rode it, liked it, rode it more. Thanks to the forum for the welcome.

Well, guess I'll just go ride more...

I hate to pee in your cornflakes, but you didn't get an awesome deal. your bike lists for $2885 in EXCELLENT condition. full custom paint does not increase it's value...in fact, it does just the opposite. usually new paint means it needed it....as in it has been down in the past. have you removed the fairings to see if any of the body has been repaired? good chance that it has.

rest assured, the shop owner "had an idea". that's what they do for a living. they knew they could not ask blue book value for a re-painted bike, no matter how good it looks.

I am not saying you got screwed or anything like that. I am just saying that you didn't "steal it" either. you simply paid a fair price.

I know what you mean I still have my Honda Twister - 250cc has just 24 cv its my daily bike. The first time that I have started my Kat I saw that all my experience with small bikes was nothing.

$2k isnt a bad deal on a post 98 bike, not incredible but not bad.
90% of motorcycle forum members do not have a service manual for their bike.

^^ agreed. the buying rush is over. it's actually creeping up on a good time to buy cheap.

Thanks, made me happy and was a better deal than anywhere else. I'm fine paying a couple extra hundred above the deal of the century so I can ride out the tail end of this season. Runs great and plan on grabbing a yoshi for it sometime in the next week or two before I move to the new apartment.
