  • Different between plastic and metal brake fluid reservoir?

I noticed that most SS bikes have plastic brake fluid reservoir, while Katana and non-SuperSport bikes use metal brake fluid reservoir. Isnt the plastic easier to brake and more prone to damage? Why would they put a weaker structure in the brake system?

The front reservoir mount on my gsxr is cracked off and it just hangs off by the tube. I looked on my 92 katana and it is metal, so it got me wondering why did they changed them to plastic for SS bikes?

Plastic weighs less. It looks cooler. It doesn't look like a master cylinder straight out of 1985 (like the Katana one actually is).

Less weight on the bars = less muscle to turn.

Seriously, that's how much thought is put into a race bike vs Suzuki's "hey we got a bunch of these in a warehouse" approach to the katana.

Plus if you bin it, its cheaper to replace.

I'm not sure if your aware Taylor, but Suzuki makes race bikes too.

I'm not sure if you're aware of proper sentence structure, but if you remove the quotations you will see "Suzuki's approach to the katana"

Oh okay, yeah the Katana got all kinds of stuff Suzuki had extras of. That's why it was so cheap.

THIS! The mount can break and you still will have brakes. It also gives flexibility with mounting location.

              Just because they sound the same doesn't mean they are: there≠their≠they're; to≠too≠two; its≠it's; your≠you're; know≠no; brake≠break

True, the reservoir is just a giant backup tank...
