  • New (tp me) SV1000S

Awesome bike! Love the V-Twin, the color, the pipes, everything about it except the small fuel tank. 13K miles, good track tires (Q2's) but not so good for street. Have to invest in some PR2's in the near future I think. It originally came as a streetfighter with dirt bike bars, which I didn't like. The previous owner also had the factory fairing with aftermarket windscreen in pristine condition. Just got that installed Saturday night with the factory clip ons and it's SO much better this way! Only thing left to install is my shorty brake and clutch levers in orange when they get here. Twin Yoshimura Tri-Oval titanium cans shortened 4" also. It's a bit loud.....

Wheelies effortlessly in first and second and pulls like a tractor in any gear. Had it up to 130 on a local track, but the fighter setup with no windscreen made it hard to hang on. Can't wait to track it again with the fairing this time.

    Came like this:

    Now it looks like this!

I've always loved that SV backside. Looks a lot better with the front fairing on too. Congrats.

                  3500.

The other part of the story is that I let my wife ride my FZ6, and never saw it again! So we sold her Ninja, the Kat is up for sale, and I got a new copper SV.

Also forgot to mention it came with heated grips! Oh man, those are nice. It also has an LED turn signal conversion done right with an electronic flasher and a HotBodies Undertail. The hydraulic clutch is really nice too, one finger pull.

The standard model came with "dirt bike bars" as you call them. The S model clipons and the half fairing.

Yup, and they only made the Standard version for one year if I remember it right. It didn't sell well, so they stopped doing it.

The ones on my bike really were dirt bike bars. Pro Taper Ricky Carmichael bend.

they only made the 1000 for a few years. The S model 650 for several more (there's a 650 standard sitting in my shed)

Such a shame too! Great motor! Only about 105 HP at the rear wheel, but 76 ft lbs of torque. Kind of a mid step between a 600 SS and a 1K inline bike. Next step is to get a PowerCommander for it and have my dyno guy work it. Maybe it's just a V-twin thing, but it surges pretty bad below about 3K RPM.

The SV1000 is a product of, and an attempted response to The Honda RC51/SuperHawk.

Suzuki was never really able to get the vtwin 1000's right. The TLR and TLS's were great bikes (when they ran) which wasn't often.
