  • Deciding on my new bike...

Sold the kat for 2400, so with that and some savings I have 4 grand I can spend on my new ride. The kat was great don't get me wrong, but as it's always said, she is heavy and way outta date. I've always wanted an actual sportbike and FI so I'm pretty stoked. I have it narrowed down to a couple bikes so I was gonna get some of yalls opinions on these, whether you have one or have ridden one and so on.

First we got an 06 gix 6, 30k miles for 4 grand(after talking him down) everything up to date(so he says). Oh it's black and blue.

Second is an 03 cbr f4i, with only 5k miles for 3 grand(after talking down) just bought from a trusted local shop(cycle center of Denton) but roomy moved out and he needs cash. Also everything up to date. Silver and black.

Third is an 05 blue 636 with 17k, same MO as last two, nothing mechanical wrong and tags are up to date. 4k after talked down, may try for 38 if I do go with it
So yeah anyone got opinions on these bikes? Thanks!

This is only my opinion, I'm sure scottynoface will tell you how awesome the kowalski is. I'd go the GSXR 600 hands down, without a doubt. I like Honda too, but unless it was an 08 or newer CBR600RR, I'd stick with the gix 6.

30k miles isn't too bad for that? Cause that was the only downside I was seeing to it. Thanks for response btw

Honestly it's between the cbr and gix, low miles and Honda reliability with the cbr, but the gix looks so good! I just want to make sure I get something that will last the next couple years. But I've heard 30k really isn't a lot, you just don't see it as often because most are wrecked by then

This isn't an engine that was made in America you know. 30K WELL maintained miles on an Asian engine is nothing. Here's what 5K miles on an 03 means. That means in 10 years it's been ridden an average of 500 miles a year. Not being ridden is worse than 30K miles.

Can you get your hands on a GSXR for a day? After the Kat, I think you'd be either really annoyed or really stoked about the riding ergos. The CBR is a more comfortable bike. If you're stoked about the GSXR ergos then that's the bike for you. If not then go for the CBR with the (ridiculously) low miles.

Either way, they're both really good bikes.

lol probably not, how's the insurance though? no doubt it's ridiculously cheap down there but I always mention it for the younger guys grabbing super sports.

Thanks both arsenic and wild bill, taking all advice to heart. I don't mind aggressive ergos, prefer them actually. Now don't hate me, but another 636 popped up lol decent amount of upgrades come with http://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/mcy/3040320903.html

I'm talking to all of them so my options are open, although wife just pointed out banks are gonna be closed tomorrow and Monday... Balls

That I have not researched yet... Lol I was paying about 150 a year for the kat, but being a male and under 25? My rates I'm sure will be higher. Thankfully i have a clean record with no tickets at all

Yeah, I don't like the looks of the 636. Just me. That front end looks like an abortion and the tail looks like an afterthought.

Like I said, you're either going to like or hate the GSXR ergos. If you like them then that's a good bike.

                              Damn that's insane o.0 I'll have to double check, maybe it isn't 150 a year. I paid like 15 a month, so yeah I guess more like 180 to 200 a year.
