  • changing part on a 96 Kat 600

I have a 96 Kat 600 and i want to simply change the fairing and front light. will the 98+ fit on it? If not can you please tell me why it wont or what i will need to do to have them fit. Or what Fairing will fit on my 96.

    Welcome to KR.
No, 98+ fairing will not go directly on your 96. With a bit of work it may be possible, but why would you want to?
The best fairing you wil find for your bike wil be the original pre 98 fairing. Any 600 kat fairing will work from 88-97, 75 front fairings will also work up to 97, only the tail was different.

Looking to put on new fairing but i was jw if i could put on 98+ fairing just was unsure. its really hard to come by 88-97 fairing. so thats why i was looking to put on newer one from a 98+. Any ideas were i could get some fairing painted already and not an arm and leg on price?

Or where i can get some aftermarket parts for it, like turn signals, integrated turn signal, mirrors?

        Have you looked at ebay?
Pre fairings aren't that hard to find.

I just went through 15 pages on EBay for Katana Fairings....not one Pre kit listed. Various parts and pieces, but no complete kit. I even narrowed the search to all pre years and came up empty.

Why does everyone expect things on a silver platter, You wont find a full set of OEM fairings for sale. If thats what your waiting for... Yea, goodluck with that

I had a paint job quote done and they said about 1000 and i just thought it would be cheaper to buy the fairing in the color i want.

To do that you'll likely be buying the individual pieces in the color you want until you have a whole set.

No, it certainly would not. Plus even if they are the same color, they'll be from different sets. Different amounts of fading etc. It's not goning to all look the same. If you just get all the parts you need and have them painted, that's a better option IMO.
