Does anyone know if anything other than the gauges on my 99 Kat 600 will work? I am in the process of converting it to a streetfighter and was hoping to get a digital speedo, rpm monitor etc.

Yeah, any guage out there will work... with some mods to fit it, since nothing but your OEM gauges were setup for the bike specifically. It just depends on how much work you want to do... the more they are dis-similar to the OEM guages, generally the more work that is needed.
90% of motorcycle forum members do not have a service manual for their bike.

but personaly I dont see a point in a 1000 you can get the same power from a properly tuned 600 with less weight and better handeling.

What kind of Mods did you mean? I was thinking of trying to either find pre 99 gauges or getting a digital one depending on finances. Its killing me trying to figure it out as I am a first timer!
Have you thought of hitting the junkyards for gauges off something like one of the old GS bikes? Something that came from the factory without a fairing. It'll have a shell around the backs of the gauges already and will have a bracket to hold them. The ends on speedo cables seem to be pretty universal and so long as the tach comes from a four-cylinder it should work fine. You might have/want to take the tach apart and replace the face to move the red line.
Thanks Wild-Bill, unfortunately where I am at there isnt a lot of junk yards. I atleast have the bike up and running and it is getting better every time I work on it, I have a friend teaching me a lot of things but still need to do some things for myself or else I wont learn anything. I am torn between keeping my gauges, and putting a street fighter headlight on the bike with the front fairings to hide the original gauges, or getting an old or new gauge and mounting a single round headlight on the thing. It all depends what is easier, I am constantly on ebay and amazon trying to find something that is actually in America, everything is shipped out of Chine or Thailand and I don't trust that.
Hi, the cheapest option is to use your stock gauges but build a surround for them from fiberglass, that's what i did and it was really easy to do.
I used card from a serial box to make the shape i wanted and then put the fiberglass over the top to make it rigid then just a bit of body filler to smooth things out and your done.
I know its not everyone's cuppa tea but i like it.
Ps its not quite finished in this pic but you get the idea.
Im at the same spot as you man. Lookin for a Hall effect Digi sensor for my post fighter... hopefully someone with a post fighter could shed some light on their gauge setup. I'm liking the Trail Tech look, just not really sure if everything will wire up perfect to have everything function correctly. Also how the speedo/tac is driven.
