Chicken strips are the unused portions of tire tread.
A squid is a rider that doesn't wear the appropriate gear.

Chicken strips are the unworn surface parts of the rear tire (nothing to be worried about as a beginning rider). A squid used to be what people commonly called anyone riding a motorcycle or driving a fast car that was out of control, looking like they were ready to crash into anything and everything in their path. It stood for "Super Quick Until I Die". Over the past 10 or so years, some people have tried to change the meaning of Squid as anyone riding a motorcycle without wearing motorcycle specific protective riding gear such as armoured pants, jackets, gloves, helmets or race leathers. I disagree, I base the definition of a squid on a rider's skill level, ability and overall responsibility when in control of a motorcycle. Just because you have the gear, doesn't mean you have the ability.

OK, new guy...thanks for being honest about being a noob, that's a modest post I can appreciate. First things first.

Everything you've seen in the movies 'Biker Boyyyyzzzzz' and 'Dorque'-er,um-'Torque', well, pretty much forget it. All of it. Get on Amazon.com and buy a neat little book called Sportbike Riding Techniques. Read it thoroughly...then read it again. Slang and whatnot will fall in place as you go about the learning process and reading things on these here fancy interwebs. You got squid and chicken strip already, so now I'll teach you a few more...

ASPHALT CRAYON-something you greatly increase the risk of being everytime you go out without gear on. I'm not gonna preach about gear because this isn't what the thread is about. It's your call about all that, not mine. nuff said there.

DOUCHEBAG-What I'd call you if I saw you riding around doing wheelies and stunting on public streets or constantly riding at excessive speed.

DONOR-kinda falls in line with squid, asphalt crayon, and douchebag

YUTT UGH-someone needs to link the video for this one...i'll see if i can dig it up in a bit...FOUND IT!! HA!! [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dx4F94DnATY"]"Yut ughhhh!" Craigslist Stunt Police Poser Idol Riders - YouTube[/ame]

              SLAYER-see www.slayerhater.com

oh there's more, but I'm on a limited time frame here...btw, i hope you found some of this humorous, because it was really meant to be(except the SRT book thing, TOTALLY meant that, great book!!)...things tend to get lost in translation over the internet....

99.9% of riders on the street were under dressed in the 80's. Race leathers were expensive and hard to find, usually had to be special ordered from a manufacturer once you found an ad in a magazine. Armored textiles were non existent. Back then most of the guys wearing race leathers on the street were thought of as racer wannabees or posers. The only track days were the rare new at the time racing schools like Keith Code's, and the only other way to get time on a race track was to join a racing club/series. Actual purpose built protective clothing didn't become as popular for street use until semi-affordable track days became popular, and with the birth of internet. With discount warehouses giving people the ability to shop worldwide for the best deals, it opened the market for more competition. If riders were still limited to the premium priced VANSON, or Alpinestar race leathers, I doubt we would even be pondering this question today.
