I understand it gets that title from being like theft recovery, wreck, ect. But is there any real downside other than i guess bringing value down? I've been considering selling my kat to get an actual SS(if anyone is interested in an 04 600 with 7.8k miles let me know, didn't see a place to post for sale) and have been monitoring the site superbikesofdallas.com for some time now. A lot of great bikes for good prices but sometimes have a salvage title so was just seeing if it affects anything other than resale value

Resale will always be very low and make it harder to sell. Also insurance may be drastically higher for anything other than minimal liability.
If you don't see yourself ever selling the bike or needing more than liability insurance... no issues at all.

Haha thanks for quick answer. The insurance part was something I overlooked so ill look into that as well. Resale I don't think I care too much on that end, planning on the bike lasting till I feel I'm ready to upgrade. I'm just gonna be happy with FI and better performance lol not that I don't love my kat

The downside is that you don't know how serious the wreck was...
If the frame is straight and the price is right I'd buy one90% of motorcycle forum members do not have a service manual for their bike.

Thanks for the tips, and yeah the ones im interested in aren't wreck salvages, one is a theft recovery I know. But yeah prices are great and exactly what I want so I do appreciate the confirmation. They also finance so hopefully get a good bike at off season pricing. Again if anyone wants or know someone that wants an 04 kat hit me up, dealer prolly won't give me huge trade in bonus but if anything should cover down payment and some

Im also pretty sure that at least in KY you can only carry liability insurance on a salvage title, not sure how your state is.90% of motorcycle forum members do not have a service manual for their bike.

I'm not sure this is the place that I am thinking about or if it was Southwest super bikes but a friend of mine bought a GSXR600 a few years ago that had a "Clean title". He got it home and I found that the subframe had a really horrible looking stick welder weld done on it and some other hidden signs of frame damage that had been "repaired" (covered up). Be sure to look for things that don't look right.Damn you Nicole, We will not speak of the 2012 Rally

1996 Kat 600 clean title- 65/yr $100 deductible
1995 Kat 600 salvage title - 935/yr $500 deductible
Yes, that's right, $900+ per year and $500 deductible on a bike that's technically only work $897 according to their figures.
So if this place is financing salvage bikes they are likely either lot financing and not requiring the same insurance, lot financing and charging you for THEIR insurance, or bank financing and adding in their own insurance. Any way I can figure it it sounds expensive and shady as all get out. I urge you to be very careful and make sure you get all the details before signing anything.Get over yourself. For me to think you are an idiot, I would first need to think of you.
