    750 swap into a 600?

Dont pay someone else to do it...seriously...

+3 Way too easy to be paying someone else for.

We are doing the same swap. and by we I mean Tim, and by doing I mean procrastinating about it. Seems the motivation to get down to the garage is the hardest part.
Get over yourself. For me to think you are an idiot, I would first need to think of you.

i have the exact opposite problem. it seems what i lack in experience knowledge and tools i make up for in motivation. im extremely hesitant on taking the engine apart because i dont know how to put it back together and i dont have a torque wrench.

really good videos on youtube on exact swap.no special tools required and a torque wrench can be had at any auto parts store for less than 20$

Why do you need to take the engine apart? I thought you were swapping a 750 into a 600...

Do you have a service manual ?

common hand tools are all that's required.

much greater satisfaction when you do it yourself !

i bought it. title says 97katana gsf600. the guy i bought it from did a crappy job swapping the 600 motor with a 750motor of some sort. i bought it dirt cheap thats why i dont mind having it taken somewhere to be done by a mechanic. right now im working on the front end now. i need to make or find a bracket for the guages and then find a circular headlight with the mounting bracktet. my plan with relocating the mirrors and front turn signals is to mount them on the bars somehow. im not sure how to make room for the brackets that go on the bars that will i will mount the mirrors (with turn signals built into them) onto the bars. i would like to keep the original turn signal controlls on the bars. i could remove the choke lever (not connected to the choke lever on the engine) off the clip on to make room for the left mirror. i dont know what im gunna do for the right side mirror.

will bandit 600 master cyl work (it has a boss to mount a mirror) as well as the clutch lever, it has a mirror boss too. bet you could find bandit pieces on ebay for cheep!

                            GSF600 is a Bandit, not a Katana.

If it TRULY has a 750 motor, it's either a gsxr or katana mill.

                            They're all pretty much identical

i looked at the motor today. i got the headlight bracket off and the rear fairings along with the tank off. its a gsxr750 motor. i think its from 1986 tho which is dissapointing cuz its so old. but when i was riding in the summer it had plenty of power till the head gasket went. im not exactly a big kid either so its got plenty of power. i went to start it today and it wouldnt start. im thinking cuz of a fuse? and im looking for way to mount the guages. i want to keep the fuel guage in the mix. i decided to mount the turn signals on the front part of the frame and im going to find a mirror for the left handle bar clip. so i changed things up a little bit. i feel it will still look nice and it will be easier to do. im going to get some picks up when i get a phone cuz my other one broke so that will probably be after new years.
