  • Difficulty with speedo healer

Prior to hooking up the speedohealer my speedometer was showing 66mph when actual speed was 60mph.

After hooking up the speedohealer and setting it to the configuration on its site my speedometer is way off in the other direction.

Even when I set the speedohealer to 0.00 it would still be way off.

Way off = 35mph indicated 75 mph actual

I've tried changing it up and down and nothing seems to work.

    Any suggestions?

Mine worked exactly as described - was a POP to install and set once I decoded the instructions.

Yours isn't trying to convert between miles and kilometres is it? If I recall there was some code entry that set / unset that function????

The downside of the healer is that once you get the speed right, your odometer and trip meter will be out by the same margin. They are actually fairly precise ex factory - just the speed display is wrong not the distance measure. (So fitting the healer really stuffed up my economy! )

I did have it set to convert because the instructions said that setting it t convert what convert kph to mph.

I'll take it off to see if that helps.

My plan today is to reset all the settings, then test the indicated versus actual again.

Lastly, set it all up again.

OK all seems to work. I erased the settings I originally put in. Speedo said 65/66 actual = 60. At this point half way there. At least I'm back to only one speedo problem.

Then I put in -5.8 tested settings and it was spot on. SO speedo problem fixed.

Only problem is the Conversion setting isn't on. In the booklet the healer came with it says the having conversion on changes kph to mph. When I had it on my speedo was messed up. Should I just keep things the way they are?

As far as I can figure, you only need to use the mph/kph feature if you want to display kph on a mph speedo or visa versa. If you want the speedo to display the units it's already in, no change needed.

This is the first I've heard of a speedo healer. I came here looking for folks with issues with their odometer/tripmeter reading incorrectly. Finished a lengthy ride with friends and when checking total miles, mine was way off from theirs. Not sure how the mph compares, tho. I checked the tripmeter against mile markers and for every mile marked on the highway, my trip meter shows 0.7 or 0.8. The roadway wasn't condusive to riding an indicated 60 mph and timing the distance between the markers. How can I identify whether a speedo healer has been installed, and if one hasn't been, anyone have any ideas what's up with my odometer?

                    Lol

If your speedo is off..you don't have one.
Kat owners tend to be a cheap bunch so I'd bet heavily that you didn't have one anyways.
Pretty much all bike speedos are off by 5-10%. And the odometer is based off the speedo.
If your sprockets aren't stock size, that can make your speedo even more inaccurate.
If you have a smart phone, there are speedometer apps that run off the built in GPS. You can use that to tell how far off you are. Once you know that, you can either shell out the $ for a speedo healer, or just know you're X% off all the time. Almost everyone just does the latter.

I just installed my speedo healer this weekend. Best 100 bucks I've spend on my bike. It took 3 or 4 tries to get it calibrated right but it is perfect now. LOVE IT!!!
