  • breaking in a new helmet

Just got my scorpion exo700 and was wondering what is the best way to break it in so that my first ride it will be comfortable to wear.

I'm not experienced in this so It will be nice to hear what others say. But I got a new helmet last weekend Ive been wearing it around the house to help make it more comfortable. I sort of feel like an idiot and my wife laughes at me but ohwell. Its getting more and more comfortable.

After I buy it, I make sure it is adjusted properly, then just ride with it and let it break in naturally.

I disagree. A helmet needs to be worn so it adapts to your head and fits comfortably. Best thing to do is just to use it and let the pads wear to your face.

Quickest way... smash it on a rock. Only way it will truly break in lol.

There really is no method to breaking in a helmet other than to wear it. Good idea not to take any long rides till you make sure it is really comfortable.

^ ditto. I bought a new helmet liner for my exo700 while at iron pony, then attempted to ride back with it in. I had switch them out halfway back.

thanks guys, some good advice there, specially like smashing head into rock, may try that one to check impact absorbtion.

I guess I'm not alone in thinking that if you need to break in a helmet, you're wearing the wrong size/shape.

                              Just because they sound the same doesn't mean they are: there≠their≠they're; to≠too≠two; its≠it's; your≠you're; know≠no; brake≠break
