  • 84 Katana 750

The bike is a 750, originally from Japan as its got the 80 kmh red strip around speedo dial unless off course they were exported like this but i wouldn't see the point. the bike resides in ireland since 1984.

Some genuis of a previous owner has stripped the threads on the right fork top bolt and the fork stansion definitely needs to be replaced and im not sure the new fork seals will hold as she is badly pitted but heres hoping.
If i can get a whole fork top and bottom then peachy but if all i can get is a stansion and top bolt then ill go with that.

I'm also wondering if a fork from another suzuki or indeed another bike will fit. I know it probably won't have the anti dive but i'm willing to accept that for an intact fork.

Anyone know anywhere that sells spares for said bike. Anyone got any bits to help out a fellow Kater ??. Also need the plastic cover for the rear brakes as she stuck today and melted on me.

Couple of options. The US 1983 GS 750E and 1985 GS 700E used forks that were similar. They wore the same front wheel, but used different brake calipers. This may or may not be an issue. The top cap is held in place with a snapring that is very prone to rusting into place. They are the same diameter, 37 mm so should bolt into the Katana triples no problem. Katana forks use the same seals from '82 all the way up to '85. I suspect the GS 1150 forks also use the same seal, but not 100% on that.

If you're only looking for the threaded top cap, you can use one from an '82 or '83 Katana, or an '84-'86 GS1150. In fact, I think the 1150 and the '84 Kat 750's used the same fork, so you may be in luck there, if you can find one. The 1150 used the same 16" front wheel although it may be a scoshe wider than the Kat wheel.

The front brake calipers came off the '83 550E/ES/EF, the rears came off the '83 750 and '85 700, so you should be able to find the plastic covers easy enough.

Hope this helps - Good luck!

The 1150 forks are the same I believe. I have had a few of those and have one here now. Have you tried the boys at Katana Australia? or katana UK?
