Looks great. I HATE matte look normally, but for some reason, for helmets, I think it looks awesome

I have the HJC Symax-II and I love it. A little heavy, but that's how modulars are. It's very comfortable to put on and take off, way moreso than a standard full face.

Here's my issue with the modular helmets, and you can demonstrate this for yourself.

Go find a modular and a normal full face helmet.

Now squeeze it from the sides.

Notice that the modular helmets have much more flex that the standard full face.

Now translate that to a side impact... I'd rather the helmet absorb the impact than my head.

My other concern is the locking mechanism coming open during an impact.

GRANTED the modular helmets HAVE gotten better over the past few years...

For me, I'll still with full face at the moment thank you.

I got my 1st HJC at the end of last year and I really like it a lot. I had a Shoei so it was kind of a "step down" but it's an awesome helmet for the price. HJC tends to also give you a Lot of features that other manufactures don't for the money involved.

If you really want to go down the mod road, HJC is a very good helmet manufacturer. Kinda heavy, kinda noisy, but definitely worth the $$$

I have nothing against HJC... I was a dealer for 4 years.
FWIW Icon helmets are manufactured by HJC corp.

mod helmets have thier place and purpose but most mod are not allowed on 95% of tracks by officials for a reason....
sure a couple were snell approved but like open face helmets that are snell approved they to, are not allowed on race tracks for good reasons.
they are just not a ridgid and "safe" as a 1 piece helmet.

Ditto to what everyone else is saying. They just don't seem to be as safe in a crash.
If you like HJC (I have an HJC) go with one of the full face models.
The only bad thing I can say about HJC is that the noise is worse than a Shoei or one of the higher-priced more premium brands. Noise cancelling earphones cure that problem, though.

Appreciate all of your opinions. . for those asking why go mod, just trying something new, still have my usual full face if I ever have a chance to get on a track. thanks for those of you who pointed stuff out about mod helmets in general. I dont know much about them personally, just seen em at the bike shops around me an usually up in the higher $ range, stumbled on the hjc for cheap so figured may as well try it out. wasnt going to try it out with the less expensive axe-fx (i think thats the brand) mod helmet simply cause I know squat bout the company, but I do know hjc has a good rep. once I get some miles in the new helmet I will post up a review here for any that may be interested.
