  • Armoured mesh jackets

Does anybody use one of these jackets? There seem to be several available, but I want a quality item. I need a good alternative to full leathers now that the heat is here.

Am rocking a JR Phoenix 4 that I got from a member here. I'd trust it, once...

I have a Shift mesh jacket, the armour seems to be of pretty good quality same with the mesh and what not...I could not afford leathers, but did not want to ride "naked" so I settled for em...so far I like them.

I have the shift backdraft. Its a great jacket, keeps you fairly cool and seems like it is durable. Now like all mesh I would only trust it for one fall but its well worth it.

I had a Joe Rocket mesh jacket. . . it was a weird convertible one that had a regular ballistic nylon layer and mesh under neath, with zippable panels over the sleeves and zippered vents.

It took a beating with a 50MPH pavement hit the pavement and it had minimal damage. I had zero injuries, save a for a sprained knee. I hit the ground head first, rolled, and ended up sliding on my backpack. The jacket had a small tear on one of the seams and got scratched up like hell.

I have a fieldsheer HiFlow II, excellent lightweight very high air flow jacket.
CE armor in shoulders and elbows, back pad also included.

as a reminder, Mesh and textile are a "one crash event" item, even if it didn't wear thru.
Like bullet resistant vests, the aramid fibers get stressed, and should be immediately discarded and replaced.

Once...... sums it up for me as well. There's no substitute for a good heavy leather jack. Mine's made from buffalo hide, but it's surprisingly cool. All I do on warm days is unzip the pec and back zippers and don't do it all the way up on my neck.....comfy enough on those odd 90's we get in Southern Ontario. I lowsided last November..... the jacket held up pretty well and I'm still using it this season...... until I can afford a better one.
