  • Installing new Clutch Cover gasket? Use sealent?

I am installing a new clutch in my 01 600 and I purchased a new clutch cover gasket. My question is should I put some liquid gasket on both sides of the mating surface with the gasket or just use the gasket only?

    Thanks for the help!!

Some people say yes, some say no. I guess do whatever you think is best.

I have however read that if you put a thin coat of the junk on both sides of the seal, it will make it easier to replace next time.

Thanks for info. Removing the old gasket was a pita and there are some spots where I couldn’t get it all off as good as I would have liked. In this case I am thinking that some sealant would not be a bad idea since there are some imperfections.

gasket sealer helps seal any inperfections in the metal. say you score the metal while scrapping the old gasket off, the sealer will help seal that area and thus no leaks. Now, mind you that a thin layer is all you need, do not glob it on, it isn't neccessary.
